Despite promising MTG the world, it sounds like McCarthy does not have the votes to become Speaker and it's doubtful he will get the votes. Let's see if the GOP can actually get behind someone. If not, they might have to get used to calling Liz Cheney Madam Speaker.

As an Independent voter who almost always votes conservative and United States first. I believe it's a win for Republicans. The left lost power losing the House while states like Ohio and Florida are bright red and not purple anymore. These are two power house electoral counts in Presidential elections. Those states addressed election issues internally and it paid off for them. Now states like Georgia and Nevada who have Republican Governors can work on fixing their voting problems making those potential locks in Presidential races. I'm in the camp that the Lake and Master's elections were stolen from them, because they didn't have RINO financial support in their campaigns and just too many fishy things going on in Arizona. The media, Bill Maher, and Joe Rogan put it in many minds that this was going to be a tsunami. Most of us knew it would come down to 50% to 49% counts. Many of these elections were just that divided and more the reason folks need to get out and vote and pick a side. I say this as an independent voter. It's too important to stop wasting votes on other or Libertarian candidates for now. Maybe some day we'll get a legitimate third party or more. Oh and nobody should ever trust "Scientific polls".

trump should be nominated for speaker of the house. you don't have to be a sitting representative to be speaker.

then when if he wins, when he's not taking care of house business he can campaign while doing all the press interviews.

But you don’t need to be a House member to become speaker.
All candidates for speaker must be nominated by members of the House, but they don’t need to be elected lawmakers of the chamber. Article I, Section II of the Constitution says only that the House “shall chuse [sic] their Speaker and other officers.” So far, the chamber has only chosen its own members as speaker.

It's up to us as voters to decide who is "qualified".

Were civics a thing when you were in school??

I was one of those folks who also didn't think Trump was qualified for the job--so I didn't vote for him either time. Turns out, he was much better than HRC would even dreamed of being...and it's a virtual certainty that he'd have done better than the current inhabitant of the Oval Office is doing. Of course, most of us could do better than that!!

Of course, all that reveals that we need better candidates!! That's our job--to choose "qualified" applicants.
