Easy peasy- just revert back the Oregon Country lines from the Treaty of Ghent and the US should own all the west coast from today's Oregon line to Alaska. That solves Alaska being cut off from the other 48.

We can name it South Alaska.

Well, let's see... I don't want to get rid of the Land but some of the people are problematic

The Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo says they can leave the area and go to Mexico or stay and be American Citizen.

Seems they made their choice and should have to live with the consequences. Or maybe move down to Mexico??
