I'm not familiar with state law, so I may be completely wrong, but it sounds to me like this was in the locker room, or at a private party, in which case they do have a reasonable expectation of privacy as is the case with any restricted access area.

A sports team have as much expectation of privacy in their locker room as a member of the public does in the showers at a gym. Same as with a private bedroom. If you're boyfriend takes some nudes in your bedroom with your consent you have an expectation of privacy as he counts as an invited audience.

Context matters.
