and C. that the con party is dead is the water.. though it does leave space for a radical change like France's en marche, maybe a 1 election wonder but it is there for the taking..

So it's somewhat possible all the doom and gloom in the article, could be motivated by politics? As well as do we really believe whichever party is going to let the gas reserves get so low that the worst-case scenario happens?

is it possible they're scaring us, that they'll go through the winter without stoppages, and in the Spring they'll pound their chests and declare 'vote for us we saved you from the blackouts'?

reading the actual plan they have a plus 6% leeway so there is little chance of it happening unless the various scenarios including disruption to gas exports to UK and disruptions to French nuclear plants happen at the same time..

the issue is how the green blob deals with the use of the Drax, EDF and Uniper coal fired units as contingency..

another take.. less end of the world..
National Grid ESO ‘cautiously confident’ there will be adequate margins for winter

the plan is really good but the media love to spin the fear they are as addicted to fear as they are to cheap money & cheap serfs.. I was pointing out the space appearing for a new party due to the mess we are in that has caused so many unintended consequences including the energy issues..

Your posts are great!

I'm wondering if Farage might step back into the limelight.

Yea my default mode is they are full of it, but that's the thing though if it isn't likely to happen why do they push for the fear and negativity?

It's manipulative as hell, but I am fascinated by how it seems the US, UK, and Europe all operate differently but still push the fear factor hard.

It could be because here we are bombarded with political ads 24/7 and they are nothing but negative too.

sometimes its best to unplug from it all

Damn, if only i were already rich. I would bring my great inventions to life if i had lots of money to build the prototypes for free energy production. There are other ways to spin A/C and D/C electric generators without heat, steam, wind, or water turbines. All locked inside my head for a price. Nikola Tesla ain't got nothing on me! 💡

Life is ugly in the UK. I visited London for the first time in ten years a few months back and it was like a scene from Oliver Twist. So much for taking control back, the only things the Brits have taken back are poor health care, bad teeth, poverty and some sort of devils food called The Black Pudding (It’s like a hotdog but made out of blood, yuk!

Gotta say their politicians make Sleepy Joe look like a hyper active teenager on amphetimines too!

I just tried GoFundMe to raise at least 1 billion dollars to save the world from us Class M planet destroying vermin but they require you to have a bank account which i don't have. I'm not doing this for free you know. You know what doomsday would be much easier to wait for, much less work for me to try and prevent it from happening!

I follow a couple of Yachting channels on youtube, the guy sails over from Denmark solo then up the Thames, gets out his collapsable pushbike to go and see the sites, and finds it has been nicked when he comes out of some museum. This is the state of things now. It used to actually take a while to get your bike nicked now it's instantaneous.

That is what is being reported in the smelly Daily Mail toiletpaper. I will call newspapers toiletpapers from now on because that is all they are.

Power cut from 4-7pm every day? www.mi5.gov.uk...
I suppose it was happy hour at the pub, and certain men were on the internet with a mug of beer after work every day, somebody read them the riot act and cut the light switch and told them skip the sex chat and be home on time for dinner, and stay faithful to their wives and children.

4pm - 7pm that's basically dinner time.

I'm calling bull # on this one.

And if it does happen it's crazy.

As all it would serve to achieve is to move the energy demand from 5/6pm to 7pm.

I can't see how that will mitigate the problem much regarding demand to be honest.

So true and sad at the same time. To see the once Great Britain reduced to some kind of third world country is heartbreaking.

It's crazy.....
If only it was just dinner that would be affected.

Under the ESE Code, businesses can apply in advance to their regional network operators to be designated as “Protected Sites”, which will continue to receive power supply during planned blackouts. In order to qualify as a Protected Site, a particular site must be used for the provision of an “approved designated service” (such as critical transport or telecommunications infrastructure) and must satisfy certain conditions about its grid connectivity. Most employers will not be able to meet these tests and so will remain affected by planned blackouts.

For the first time since the “Three Day Week” in the 1970s, UK businesses may find themselves unable to keep the lights on and key systems running at times this winter. This is unlikely to be as extreme as in the 1970s, when for two months all commercial use of electricity was limited to three days each week. But even short blackouts can cause significant disruption to businesses.

Would not just be my dinner affected but millions of children and people who work for a living across the nation.

I'm old enough to remember the power cuts from the arse end of the 70s and early 80s Itisnowagain.

It was not much fun as a kid, but you could make a game out of it of sorts, as an adult i imagine it's apt to be rather the inconvenience.

I would suggest a better idea would simply be to cut power later on at night, say 10pm -1am but its obviously peak demand they are attempting to curb/reduce, far as i can establish all they are apt to do is move the demand with these shenanigans.

The three day power cuts ended in 1974.
You were born in 1975.

There were power cuts all over the nation when i was a lad Itisnowagain, i don't remember 3 days ones through, never said i did all the same.

More to do with the miner's strikes and i few other reasons i seem to recall my grandfather telling me at the time.

Seem to remember them lasting hours all the same, not days, that really would have been murder to contend with.

Not viable to cut power for days in this day of age, or at least i hope not.

What year were you born?

Agreed.
Can you imagine in the urban areas in particularly, where people pop into their local cafe/restaurant/take away/pub, on the way home for a bite to eat?

PS, I was a teenager in the '70's and remember 'lights out' starting at 7pm until 10pm every night for a good couple of weeks.
