In recent days, many of Russia's closest allies have ordered Embassies to close and citizens to evacuate Ukraine immediately.

Kazakhstan - Belarus - Turkmenistan - China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan - Serbia - Tajikistan are among those nations.

This is mildly concerning. We need cooler heads to prevail and I do not see that happening.

EDIT: I missed Egypt.

I think its a combination of fear of what Putin might try and do and normal operations as things go sideways, more so than any big plan to go nuke happy.

*shrugs* could be wrong, but only time will tell.,

Quick reminder for everyone concerned about nukes, in Jan 2022 just a few months before the war the 5 nuclear states all agreed to not use nukes in any upcoming wars

They didnt agree to not threaten to use them just to not use them.

The People’s Republic of China, the French Republic, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the United States of America consider the avoidance of war between Nuclear-Weapon States and the reduction of strategic risks as our foremost responsibilities.

We affirm that a nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought. As nuclear use would have far-reaching consequences, we also affirm that nuclear weapons—for as long as they continue to exist—should serve defensive purposes, deter aggression, and prevent war. We believe strongly that the further spread of such weapons must be prevented.

We reaffirm the importance of addressing nuclear threats and emphasize the importance of preserving and complying with our bilateral and multilateral non-proliferation, disarmament, and arms control agreements and commitments. We remain committed to our Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) obligations, including our Article VI obligation “to pursue negotiations in good faith on effective measures relating to cessation of the nuclear arms race at an early date and to nuclear disarmament, and on a treaty on general and complete disarmament under strict and effective international control.”

We each intend to maintain and further strengthen our national measures to prevent unauthorized or unintended use of nuclear weapons. We reiterate the validity of our previous statements on de-targeting, reaffirming that none of our nuclear weapons are targeted at each other or at any other State.

The indiscriminate bombing of Ukrainian cities, especially Kyiv, will probably scare even allies out of the area.

I'm reminded of Bertolt Brecht's dictum that, when the leaders speak of peace...the mobilization orders have already been issued.

To play devil's advocate here, Russia could give tactical nukes to the Donetsk Republic. Which could use it against Ukraine. In the event that happens, either Ukraine needs to claim that Russians, used it and hence recognize that Russian annexed the area, or they need to affirm terrorists used it, and hence Russia is not responsible.

Kinda makes you wonder huh

Except the winds blow east.... right into Russia.

Do they really want nuclear fallout on their own nation?

Now that the real dogs of war have been released upon Ukraine's infrastructure and population centers across the country there is no need for nukes. Doing a half a$$ assault upon a country that is weak and has no allies will work however that was not the situation from day one when Russia tried to take over and control the airport at Kyiv ...

Russia can stand back and just lob missiles until there is nothing but rubble left in Ukraine. War sucks... my only question is how well the supply lines of Russia can sustain their offensive.

1) I see only Egypt mentioned . Where are the rest of the countries as stated ?
2) It is standard practice for countries to send a recommendation , through their respective embassies , to pull out. It is war , ya know. (i.e. no ORDER has been sent).

Read the entire article with comprehension.

most of the fall out is within 50-100 miles. and most disappears after 30 days. Yea it will cause increased cancer rates in some areas, but its russia, most those folks have liver or lung issues anyway and the average life expectancy is 73. So some folks will die a little earlier, it won't impact the major population centers just the folk in the woods, and they don't really matter. Its worth worth it from the russian perspective if they can take half of ukraine. They can sell the grain to India and Africa which won't mind, and have the natural resources too. It also locks down the southern route for NG and OIL, so they put an even bigger strangle hold on Europe.

Words and actions are completely different, I’m sure you know this as well as I do, people say a lot of things before they do not as they say.
