Tell me, how does an occupying invading force conduct a democratic referendum?

Did all those millions of displaced refugees get to vote?

Come off it.

If only all those dead and injured Ukrainian civilians could have stayed safe, eh?

I was wrong about M1A1 Abrams MBT , i thought it only uses jet fuel, but it seem to run also other fuels......which is very good .

I think Germany have asked for Abrams purely because they know the US don't want to supply them.

I was listening to some US general saying theres no way Abrams would be of any use without a huge team of specialist mechanics and tonnes of maintenance equipment to keep them running. He also said theres zero chance any administration would put that many US service personnel in the same place in Ukraine where they could all be klled by a single Russian strike..

So Germany know full well the US ain't sending Abrams-its there way of saying sorry no Leopards, but its not their fault.
Attempted political face saving as lives are lost by the hour.

Germany will loose reputation for decades situation will go much worse in Ukraine, because not enough MBT .

In the 1980s, Germany was a divided nation.

The irony is that with reunification, more of the mentality of the poor, communist east seems to have dominated rather than the values of West Germany, which was both larger and more wealthy.

Enter Schroeder, and then, Merkel. They (probably on the prodding of backers) took Germany in a direction that was more about dominating the EU and progressively contributing less and less to NATO.

The EU and NATO are different organizations with different goals. The problem comes in when EU foreign policy goals have potential to spark a conflict ... that NATO (with non-EU members like Canada, the UK, and the USA) may have to fight.

Part of the current confrontation with Russia is due to EU goals, both organizational (foreign policy) and those of individual actors within the EU (like the former chancellor of Germany, Schroeder, who just happens to have a huge interest in the success of Gazprom). These various goals have created an EU orientation toward Russia that is an admixture of wanting influence in countries like Ukraine and Belarus, and, turning a blind eye to previous military adventures of Putin's regime ... because the influence money coming from Russia was just too damned good.

But it is not all about Russia. Germany changed in many ways post-reunification, most of it was about putting the workers in their place (from the point of view of the elites) and establishing a super wealthy elite to call the shots within the EU.

Cheers

So Germany is getting pressured sending Leopards.

Germany say ok, but U.S sends the Abrams first.

U.S doesn’t want to send their good stuff. But is pressuring Germany.

Speaks for itself here.

Strange times indeed ...It seems Olaf is compromised.

Cav knows this better but i think Germany was acting much better in the 80s , then all changed with the leadership .

Interesting news about that from sky . I understand that US is not happy
if leopards are not send, as it`s logistical and maintance issue sending
M1A1 Abrams which run on jet fuel also.

I dont see West can afford not to send MBT to Ukraine , leopards would be much more logical.

They do have now new M1A1 Abrams in Poland, maybe they will train Ukrainians there ? i dont know.

Stop.

Germany has every right not to engage further out of its ass to escalate this into a Broader conflict.

I know you’re probably Polish or Finish. But calm down.

When Russia goes Apocalyptic and goes after Poland or a NATO country,

Then expect further top tier Tanks and gear.

Until then calm down. You’re in an escalate mode. Basically want Germany to send more top tier stuff.

You want a Full doors blown off World War. Then just say it.

Just say it. Or act accordingly.

www.thecollector.com...

"Upon becoming President of Russia more than 20 years ago, Vladimir Putin publicly declared his intention to restore Russia as a great power. In his annual State of the Nation address to Parliament in 2005, he said, “Above all, we should acknowledge that the collapse of the Soviet Union was a major geopolitical disaster of the 20th century.”

Indeed, the Russian President has undertaken the task to restore Russian influence over the post-Soviet territories. But does it really mean that Putin is trying to restore the Soviet Union? Russian foreign policy under Vladimir Putin is vast and complex, greatly evolving over his almost two-decade presidency. If analyzed from the point of view of the post-Soviet states and of Russia’s neighboring countries, it certainly looks like Putin is embarking on the project of rebuilding the Soviet Union."

He made it pretty clear from the beginning.
