United Nations GA adopts resolution condemning Russia's annexation of Ukrainian regions

Result of today's vote:
143 In Favor
5 Against
35 Abstained

So essentially, most of the world just formally rejected Russia's annexation, and those territories will not be recognized as part of Russia. Now some might argue that this is just a formality, but it IS important. It is a worldwide wake up message to Putin that no, he can't just go claiming territories with sham referendums any time he pleases. Makes for messy map making, but it is what it is.

This just happened, so there may be more news forthcoming.

I’ll remember this when China adopts a resolution in the UN to annex Taiwan.

Boy this is fun if weren’t so tragic and full of hypocrisy.

Knowing how the United Nations was originally set up, I would be surprised if the Constitution allowed for the possibility of removing their Permanent Membership. The whole point was to keep the major allies of 1945 unassailable, even from each other.
