Single turbine can power 18,000 households, or a Tesla Model 3 for more than a million miles

The renewable energy breakthrough was achieved using a set of “revolutionary” blades that are cast in a single piece of recyclable resin.

This is what floats my boat. I love to read good news like this. Isn't it amazing how far off shore wind farming has come. I wrote a few years ago that Israel had invented an interesting new kind of plastic and that plastic has some amazing uses yet to be explored, the recyclable kind. I wrote that we could find a way to make wind turbines out of it and all the big aircraft manufacturers could make loads of cash for the shareholders making wind turbines too. With these new resins if we can get the right kind of density, toughness and flexibility we could pipe up much of Africa's interior and other dry places. We have the potential to irrigate interiors all over the earth. The potential flexibility of a resin could potentially resist slight land tremors and changes too. Let's face it plastic lasts much longer than most metals and the ones that do last a while tend to poison us slowly when they get old.

It's a great beginning. We have to do this. There is no choice. We can move over slowly as we innovate. It is evolution. Nature is making us do it in our imagination as must needs. It's pretty amazing that all my digital appliances can be powered like this and all linked up via a few satellites in the sky and some light pipes. The electrons are all communicating the concepts to our collective neurons all over the earth now. I can manipulate electrons and get them beamed via light to you guys wherever you happen to be and a windmill powered it.

My kayak is a big lump of plastic. You would not believe the fun I have on my glorified floating milk bottle and my carbon capturing lightweight paddle that will last me all my life if I look after it. I want my kayak to be made of resin that can be recycled too. I believe our technology can achieve all this.

Plastic is not my enemy. It is my boat. Yesterday I was in the ocean chatting away to the Boss Upstairs and told him I wanted to kiss the ocean it was that beautiful. All achieved on a lump of plastic.

We can do this. We must make it EVERYPERSON though. In the beginning of the twentieth century they had a thing called "Everyman", publishing all the amazing literary works to educate all of us. Now we must have the EVERYPERSON concept. We have the potential to completely change this world without too much loss and pain if we do it collectively and if we do it without being selfish and greedy. We must invest. We must invest in ourselves, all of us, not just some of us.

We all deserve access to the windmill's power at an affordable rate so we can power some vehicles and live our modern lives of technological evolution. Personally, I am happy with the digital communication and creation equipment and I paddle, pedal everywhere and strum too as plan B if the power ever goes (my acoustic guitar is plan B). You would not believe how young and healthy I look for my age. You get gifts if you try.

Please try. You will make it if you do.

Well that is a step. In the right direction. The problem is wind turbines kill birds, animals, and destroy the environment. It takes over 100 tons of coal to make the concrete base of each one.

That along with the short life span of the turbine and the inconsistant output makes them a bad idea in large scale.

These turbines have the exact same fatal flaw as solar panels
They work fine in certain geographic areas.
Unfortunately when you are out of those areas the power generation drops substantially.

The turbine mentioned in the op has a rotor diameter of 222 meters or 728 feet... That's frickin huge...

People need to understand that these green energy projects are not going to be enough to replace all of the other means of power generation.
Yeah, we can build solar and wind farms...
But we also need new nuclear and natural gas..

We definitely need to go nuclear along with the renewables.

I grew up in rural lincolnshire UK and there were 3 coal fired power stations in about an 8 mile radius.

Two are now gone, the third was replaced with a gas fired station and the site has just been aproved for the first UK fusion test centre station.

Fossil fuels are becoming the past one day at a time.

There will be some major changes as fossil fuel use diminishes. The bi products from refining crude oil is a huge piece of the manufacturing puzzle. Costs will skyrocket for those bi products.

We have to reimagine wind technology design.

That way, it'll generate without killing.

I bet the Birdcide is killer.

I wonder how many BALD EAGLES or seagulls it will kill.

And then there's the disposal at end of service life.

Even Greta agrees.

Well necessity is the mother of invention...

You should probably do some research on how injection molded products are made, me thinks.

Ever wondered how many birds get killed because of the chicken farming industry?

I can personally vouch for several hundred.

Finger lickin good.

Nice strawman though.

Some new design that they say will increase power output

wind catching

Not bird friendly thought either ..

Far more than a few seagulls then.

I've always found the dead bird argument rather weak when it comes to wind turbines.

You should really click on that link instead of ignoring the LAW.

Meh, thats a US law and I'm English.

Funny how laws are more important when they suit yur narrative.

THe US factory farms and hunts animals like nobody's business.

Funny how HYPOCRITICAL the church of climatology is.

Nothing shall get in the way of making the entire world depend on the god damn weather for it's energy needs.

What's a few billion dead in the face of saving the planet and all that snip.

Err, why do you consider hypocritical the church of climatology?
