I love the symbolism concerning the bridge's destruction on Putin's birthday. But I am interested in the impact on Russian logistics and military operations. I wonder if, by destroying that bridge, the Ukrainians are seeking to force the Russians to use alternative routes and means of transport for supplies. So the Ukrainians might target those logistical elements to degrade Russia's capacity to resupply front lime units.

If Ukraine were able to take and hold Melitipol right now we might see a race to Sevastopol for Dunkirk 2.0 in a few weeks.

Isn't this the reason we wanted to hold a referendum and a vote?

When the referendum is conducted by a country who have had the same guy Elected as President , Prime Minister then President again for the last 22 years can anyone have any confidence in the integrity of the election process of that country.

Minimal damage to be repaired quickly and zero evidence of it being the Ukrainian scum.

I'm unaware of any other cases of a bridge spontaneously combusting so either the Ukrainians did it or Russia did it.

Crimea, the bridge, the beginning. Everything illegal must be destroyed, everything stolen must be returned to Ukraine, everything occupied by Russia must be expelled.

A lorry caught fire that then caused fuel train trucks to combust as being reported by the bbc.

BBC reported that russia claimed it was a truck bomb, not that it was a truck bomb.

It looks like the blast came from the other direction and the roadway didn't show any indications of a truck bomb.

russia says a lot of things, few of them turn out to be true.

Especially the things they say them before having any evidence.

Possibly but you have to understand here in the west we're told so many different things we don't really know

You need to start researching then. Can't hide behind your ignorance all your life.

That's why I think a referendum and a vote would do much to quell any of those doubts

But if the majority DO want to be Russian then the Ukraine is not justified.

First they'd have to expel all the illegal immigrants brought in by Russia. And return original inhabitants that are still alive but in exile. Otherwise it would hardly be a fair election.

What would you consider major or significant damage inflicted on the bridge if that is minimal damage?

Nah, bridge is fine, russia should send more trains full of war equipment & fuel right away.

Truck conveys too.

Best to turn off the bridge & vehicle lights to prevent more attacks.

The BBC are quoting what Russian state media are reporting.

Russian state media says it was caused by a lorry explosion and led to oil tankers on the rail section catching fire, with the road then collapsing

And as a show of confidence Putin should be in the lead vehicle.

Per BBC Crimea’s parliament is saying the same thing:

Konstantinov added that damage to the Crimean bridge "will be promptly restored, since it is not of a serious nature".

Well… regardless of anyones’s spin, a tanker fire and multiple collapsed sections are kinda serious for any bridge!

Even under emergency priority it’s going to take weeks to reopen this bridge. Cut-off troops don’t have those weeks to wait for resupply.

Latest tweet from the Ukrainian defence ministry.

The guided missile cruiser Moskva and the Kerch Bridge – two notorious symbols of russian power in Ukrainian Crimea – have gone down.
What’s next in line, russkies?
