I'm not a Monarchist really, can take them or leave them.
But as Heads of State come QEII was pretty good and conducted herself with remarkable dignity.
Despite what many believe the Monarch has no real power, a bit of influence yes, but no actual power.

Its been said and explained time and time again, we have a Constitutional Monarchy.

To be honest, I find the whole principle behind an hereditary monarchy quite repugnant.
But what are the alternatives?
A Cromwell?
A Macron or Merkel?
Heaven forbid, a Trump or Biden?
Or even a Putin?

No thanks.

Its something I hadn't considered but quite true:

So the only way a democracy can find a sense of stable unity is to have a national representative NOT chosen by politics. Step forward hereditary succession. It works. If it had not existed, we should have tried to invent it.

I completely agree with this.
No single country as yet to find a decent democratic political system thats doesn't end up disenchanting half of it's citzens. At least with a none political figure head, it goes some way in creating some form of stability.

Yeah, obviously a complete and utter knobhead.

I have no problem with people being anti-Monarchy, especially if it comes from informed reasoning.
But wilful ignorance?

And you'd have thought they'd at least have the common decency to withhold their comments until after her funeral.
Some people just want to be contentious for the sake of it.

As I said, no class.

I think that about sums it up as best as you could.

I'm against the concept of monarchy and the land and assets they own is abhorent but we had a queen so I kind of liked her.

I can't explain and justify why other than to say its the way things are.
