Every time I have a can of diet soda (rarely) it Makes me feel like crap, I have to drink a ton of water to rid the feeling.

No argument, but my post was addressing the statement that only obese, out of shape people consume diet drinks. I know plenty of slender people and those who work out regularly who consume just as much as the people he is overtly shaming.

Understood, but I was replying to Athetos' comment that 'they see healthy and unhealthy people drinking them all the time'... my point was just because someone is slender and maybe appears to be reasonably fit, doesn't mean they are healthy.

People would be better off if they stuck to drinking clean water or beverages with no added sugar or artificial sweeteners. If someone does have a sweet tooth, real sugar used in moderation shouldn't affect their health that much. If you want soda, the stuff from Mexico that is made with cane sugar is going to be better than those made with high fructose corn syrup or artificial sweeteners. Just don't drink too much of it.

Yeah, I'm looking for ideas on how to make soda drinks too that are totally natural, however on looking at just about every diluting juice in the supermarket there were none, let me know if you find any good solutions

Cheers

The body knows eh, and ooft cheeky waitress, hope you didn't tip, if that happened nowadays she would have been sacked, all sorts of allergen safeguards, when I was looking at ingredients in the sodas today I was noticing many of the sweeteners or preservatives with bold writing, on further research I found it was related to being allergens, and these allergens were chemical based, so yeah listen to the body

Mexican coke is the absolutely BEST, in a class bottle, chilled to perfection!!!

I gave up sodas about a year ago. I have an occasional ice tea but mostly drink water now.

Here in the UK there was a gigantic push to get people to drink DIEt drinks, about 18 months before pandemic, they pushed the price up on the "unhealthy" full fat juice drinks via a sugar tax, while putting all their DIEt drinks on special offer, many studies now show how these special ingredients in the "healthier" options are really bad for the immune system, amongst other things. Now I didnt get vaccinated 666, and not because they never offered it to me, but because I've never trusted the controller's of this upside down world.

Aspartame, for instance, is metabolized to formaldehyde, which has been associated with type 4 delayed hypersensitivity reactions. There's also been suggestions that sucralose may have negative effects on the thymus and spleen, and possible associations with autoimmune disorders, Dr. Sachmechi said.27 Jan 2016

Authors of a 2017 review concluded that aspartame may affect the immune system and, as a result, it may lead to oxidative stress and inflammation. Their findings suggested that aspartame could affect the cells of various body organs, including the brain, the heart, the liver, and the kidneys.

Is it just me, but neither of those links show anything about aspartame

I'll occasionally let myself have a Mexican coke, but otherwise I just drink water and black, unsweetened coffee.

You have to get in there and dig around the websites. They seem to have linked the main pages instead of the ones to what they quoted.

A good sparkling water added to your fave juice is nice.

11yrs strong w/o McDonald's or equivalent.
No microwaved food.
Mostly organic fruit/Meat/organic juices/Coors Pure*organic*/water.
Royal jelly/KELP/Panax/Ginseng/L-Arginine/magnesium supplement..prebiotics/probiotics when needed.
Pine tree sap/honey on wounds..no nasty synthetic antifungal. Thyme in my socks.

DIY Soda.. organic lemons/organic limes/your fave sparkling water/ a really good honey/bee pollen.

My mother swears Diet Dr.Pepper was cause of her diverticulitis. 10inches removed.

..my grandma*fathers mother* is recovery for the same condition, same result, idk her diet though.

..I do however infrequently indulge in the real deal. Cherry vanilla Pepsi.

Ohh oh and those slushie drinks@ QT gas stations. ..just about a two-three second pull of rooster booster, then white cherry to about half an inch under the rim, lightly lift an drop cup to settle ice crystals, then top w/more rooster booster...in the Styrofoam cup. The Styrofoam cup is preferred for insulative properties even tho it's smaller @the same price of the x-large plastic cup.

Peace&Love

Alright, I need some advice then.

I'm what they call a functional alcoholic I guess, but let me explain. I have a pretty good genetic tolerance to alcohol, but I also have anxiety and was put on a lot of anxiety medicine as a teenager that's cross tolerant with alcohol -- further increasing my tolerance to it.

I'm in middle age now, and I don't drink to get drunk, dont like how it feels, avoid it. I do however have a few drinks everyday. Diabetes runs in my genetics as well as putting on belly fat, plus my age. What I do is mix rum with diet pepsi to cut out the sugar and the calories from soda, as the alcohol itself has at least 100 calories per shot and I put two of them in every drink. These are spaced out through the day and evening, I work 8 hour shifts and know plenty about the health aspects of all of this so you can spare me.

Diet soda is also much cheaper than juice for example, although I do like pure grapefruit juice ($4 a jug vs $2 for a 2 liter of soda that you get more in). I go through one 2 liter per 24-36hrs or so. I know aspartame isnt good for me but do you think this is the best way to maintain my lifestyle? Could the soda be causing me problems? I have problems, and I'd love a good scapegoat.

I could try switching to juice, but if I did, I'd have to use very little to stretch it.

Aspertame seems to be hidden in so many products these days it is hard to avoid. I don't care for the taste of it and avoid it as much as possible. It has some pretty bad properties to it....multiple things it can do to the body. Most of those things are not real dangerous, but it does add up if you consume even moderate amounts in your diet regularly

I prefer pure cane sugar in sweets myself and do not like too much sugar anyway, I eat way less than the average person supposedly eats.

I like about a teaspoon of cane sugar and a splash of milk in my coffee. If the coffee is cold I like it black. I never really liked sweets other than cinnamon rolls and cherry and blueberry pie...I do like homemade strawberry jam on a PB+J sandwich sometimes.

Ouch, I have exceeded the maximum amount of time to edit a post so I cant delete my moment of clarity.

I saw that it hadn't been quoted in a reply yet but alas, no dice.

Sure thing!

I've made a few batches of lemonade, it's getting your fizz that's the issue. You could lightly ferment then keep it cold, use soda water, force carbonate but that'll cost you depending on equipment.

Just lemon/limeade so far, I mostly do beer and it's been a little warm
I have a couple recipes and guides on how to make sodas from scratch with fruit, it's a very similar process to jam making and mostly involves pasteurizing a syrup, watering it down then making it fizzy. There's a couple of things you might need like potassium sorbate that inhibits cell growth but that's only for longer term storage. Fast consumption, proper sanitation or cold storage is a must otherwise something will ferment it... Or bacteria, you'll know either way. Things go bang or taste really bad.

Coffee filter paper or fine muslin for filtering the syrup water isn't a bad idea either, not everyone liked bits!

There's some half decent cordials out there that help make a soda, I used a bottle of Lowicz in a 10L batch of lemonade and it was pretty good, it's a quicker way of making your own. Sugar is cheap somewhat.

To add: I'll try post some recipes later, there's a strawberry one I've been meaning to make, they usually come with options to add like lime, mint etc

I stopped to drink this kind of drinks, I am a diabetic from 14 years. Asprtame makes your brain hungry for sugar, its dangerous. Sometimes I buy sugar cola to increase glucose level in case of drop. At home? Tea, coffee, water and vitanins, calcium, C, D,B .
Drink only natural products.

Cheers to You all
