Here in the UK there was a gigantic push to get people to drink DIEt drinks, about 18 months before pandemic, they pushed the price up on the "unhealthy" full fat juice drinks via a sugar tax, while putting all their DIEt drinks on special offer, many studies now show how these special ingredients in the "healthier" options are really bad for the immune system, amongst other things. Now I didnt get vaccinated 666, and not because they never offered it to me, but because I've never trusted the controller's of this upside down world.

Aspartame, for instance, is metabolized to formaldehyde, which has been associated with type 4 delayed hypersensitivity reactions. There's also been suggestions that sucralose may have negative effects on the thymus and spleen, and possible associations with autoimmune disorders, Dr. Sachmechi said.27 Jan 2016

Authors of a 2017 review concluded that aspartame may affect the immune system and, as a result, it may lead to oxidative stress and inflammation. Their findings suggested that aspartame could affect the cells of various body organs, including the brain, the heart, the liver, and the kidneys.

You never see healthy people drinking diet drinks it’s either a massive whale or a desiccated husk sipping diet.

'Mornin. I've noticed a big difference. In the 50's we only had sugar. Then something called Sacrin(?) in the 1st like "1 cal cola-Tab.

You could tell the difference in jitters, upset stomach...Fast forward we got Nutrisweet, Aspartame, Equal...all jitter producers...but we've since got used to them. Aspartame became one of the worst...all kinds of neg side fx.

But today...its energy drinks, low cal, no cal, diet, light...all with some kind of sweetener.

I'm going on record here: there are most likely more overall probs with hyper-and-hyp-glycemia and diabetes...than folks realize. Twns of millions more...then COVID deaths.

The fx of sweeteners is nasty..Give me a Diet Coke? I'll run around the house, shake and twitch, heart jumping...and I can't run, will shake, twitch and AFIB a drumbeat.

We thought in the 70's later "sweeteners" can't really be good for us...

Noowwww...everyone "gets" it w artificial additives for "taste". I'm no good example kids, but watch what you put into your body: read labels!

Yeah for sure watch what you put in, and out... Since I've been doing a more labour intensive job I've noticed I eat more and do the toilet less, which made me think how the body absorbs the foods and drinks you consume to build muscle and replace fluids, you really are what you eat, cheers

Stevia is the only way to go. I have been using that for sweeting everything for about 10(?) years now .
I haven't done diet drinks since .

Caution : Don't use an equivalent amount of Stevia .

It’s about 100 to 300 times sweeter than table sugar

Stevia

Pretty much, I drink coca cola with all the sugar, but it's like a couple of cans a week, moderation is key, just like everything we do I suppose, diet juice has never tasted right to me, it's like when you can taste the chemicals... Me no likely, it's the long term effects also, but then again, what can you drink, apparently most food that comes from farmland has glyphosate again is not good,

causes imbalances in gut bacteria and some studies have found that glyphosate appears to accumulate in human cells. At low concentrations it damages liver, kidney and skin cells and long term effects include cancer, infertility, pregnancy problems, birth defects and respiratory diseases.

So yeah, just don't eat or drink anything and you should be fine,ha

I see healthy and not so healthy folks drinking diet drinks every day.

Absence of overt symptoms of ill health does not equate to healthy.

Most people - especially those not eating the proper human diet and eating garbage/junk - are at different levels of unhealthy, they just don't know it.

Aspartame and acesulfame k, give me a headache every time i drink more than the initial sip which taste tells me there is no sugar in this drink, I then check for the ingredients. Lately Stevie glycol is making it into the low cal. stuff, although i don't like it at all taste wise, it doesn't give me any side effects.

Apparently the sweet taste alone triggers the body to produce insulin, which then isn't needed as there is no sugar to be processed. this dissonance is speculated to be a cause for diabetes...

No argument, but my post was addressing the statement that only obese, out of shape people consume diet drinks. I know plenty of slender people and those who work out regularly who consume just as much as the people he is overtly shaming.

If I remember the story correctly, the old soda diet rite used an artificial sweetener that was finally banned in the US.
It is not banned in most of countries around the world.

Cyclamate...
en.wikipedia.org...

We are constantly hearing about things banned in Europe so it has to be bad. But not this one.... Hmmm

There's a conspiracy here somewhere.

It's actually hard to find sodas without sweeteners these days, since the sugar tax I'm usually drinking coca cola if anything.

Aspartame is pretty controversial but there's loads of sweeteners on the market and they're everywhere. It's not just beverages, they can trigger migraines for me which doesn't happen when I consume sugar so something is going on right?

I'm trying to teach myself to make sodas. I'd rather someone else do it for me that isn't coca cola, that doesn't put chemicals in my beverages... I want the moon on a stick too! I just ask too much.

Market share and adaptability, it's always the same companies... Company that thrives whenever things like this happen. The only ones who can afford to sell sugar yet push the chemicals. Interesting huh?

1984 I was in the Navy on board a ship on deployment in the Indian Ocean. The flight deck was about 100 degrees F. before the jet exhaust was added. I came down for Lunch, set my tray on the table, grabbed a glass and went to the soda machine. I drank down three glasses of what I thought was Coke before filling my glass and going back to my table. A few minutes later I'm having trouble breathing. Medical was only a few yards away and I went there. Thankfully a corpsman Chief recognized what was going on and gave me a shot of Benadryl. I'd had an allergic reaction. They made up an allergy test up and I found out that I was allergic to Tab. When we got home I had a full test done and found that I was allergic to most artificial sweeteners as well as a few other things (hot peppers). I've been careful about watching out for things that I might have problems with. A few years ago I stopped for Lunch and ordered a Pepsi. When I got it, I tasted it and asked the waitress if it was Diet Pepsi, she said that it was. I said that I had ordered Pepsi, not Diet Pepsi she told me that I looked like I could use the Diet Pepsi.
