Eco freaks make me chuckle, strip mining is far from environmentally friendly but as long as it's not in there back yard.

As for the battery tech, I have no doubt better longer lasting batteries are being designed but unless it keeps profits at worst where they are it will never be used large scale.

Zero incentive for companies to switch to better cheaper longer lasting batteries.

Lastly our grid is a joke, California already limiting charging times, with inflation not looking to change anytime soon upkeep will be harder to pay far, I would expect more brownouts and charging limits especially if the left retains control.
