I still don't want it again, and I didn't want my kids to have to suffer through it so I got them vaccinated.

Maybe her partner was having gay sex, or just living in the same household and she got it from touching somebody infected laundry, the only way to get it is by contact.

My children go infected as children soo no problem there, as for me, I was 21 years old when I got chicken pox, after moving to the US from my Island as a newlywed.

It was horrible, I had them all over, when I say all over means inside and out in every crevasse in my body.

My children when they were sick did not even noticed and did not care.

My point was that chickenpox is virtually not fatal. It's almost unheard of to die from it. But... it can make you MISERABLE, and I don't want it again just like I don't want monkeypox. Fatality has nothing to do with it.

It is complete with all the fear mongering that everyone has to worry about it equally so as not to overly stigmatize certain groups who tend to engage in certain high risk behavior more than the rest of us.

I got a shingles vaccine this year, does that count? When I know people have covid at work, I keep my distance. That's about it.

And again, I got all of my kids vaccinated for chickenpox. It was too late for me, but I didn't want them to have to go through that if it can be avoided.
