Nose picking may also be associated with an increased risk of Golden Staph transmission to wounds, where it poses a more serious risk.

Always do exactly what they say is good for you is my motto.
I've always thought the kid instinct to pick and eat was a form of self vaccination against the microcosm. We went from my generation being raised with everything sterilized then they decided it was raising issues such as asthma and allergies, then we go natural and they freak out bad, bad, gardening causes heart attacks in the covid era.
Honestly, it's only the minds that are being prepared for weakness. First the mind, then the body. House of cards.
Editing to add... it's the wiping it elsewhere that is gross. Down the hatch is a public service for the good.

I thought it was a quick Sunday morning the other thing.
By oneself.

It might be the lunch beer's fault, but this part made me laugh entirely too hard:

Great Kindra, that article speaks right to me. It mentions the size of the first digit and how it fits the nostril so nicely. Not in my case, only my pinky can invade that cave. But yes, it does a very good job of making entertaining important information on how to help ourselves stay healthy. Thanks for that.

I also read a lot of research and am surprised how many supposedly professional people misinterpret them. Most do not say what "experts" say they say...it takes quite a bit of time to properly assess what they say and most times they don't say anything other than a correlation but that does not stop people from twisting them to fit their beliefs.
I try to translate what they actually say so I can share the information and it is often difficult to put it in layman's terms. So I know what you are saying is true.
I usually check out some interpretations to see if they are interpreted correctly, and surprisingly, some times the evidence is presented in good simple articles....I always check it out to verify if it is mostly correct though before repeating it.
This article is kind of funny that you presented. And it seems to be pretty true too.
The thing it does not address is crusty boogers stuck in your nose, blowing them out does not work. So sometimes I pick my nose and stick it on kleenex. You tend to nose breath more when doing dusty stuff and it builds up in there and hardens. So I am guilty of picking my nose sometimes...The kleenex sometimes falls apart when putting it around your pinky too, sometimes I use paper towel. Try doing a brake job, the dust blown off fills the air and a mask is a big inconvenience, the safety glasses fog up and that is not good when using power tools or torches when you cannot see well.
I can't lie, I do pick my nose occasional, just like most people do on occasion.

Weird how the majority of people find snot disgusting. Maybe it's an instinct that tells us it's a bacterial bomb... I also thought the pick and eat thing that kids do strengthens their immune system. Still think it is, they eat bacteria so what else can the body do then build a defense for it?
wiping it somewhere IS gross! Or randomly flicking it .... that is the stuff I try not to think about when sitting in a movie theater or restaurant, or holding the bars on public transportation
Back in highschool, one of things we had to do as punishment, was clean the chairs, especially under the seats, pick off all the chewinggum... and who knows what else! *cringe*
