The 2% refers to rare individuals who are XXX or XXY and a few other genetic cases where both sex organs are expressed rather than the usual one. These anomalies can't help but throw a wrench into the works in terms of identity but it's a bit unfair to call it mental illness any more than red hair is.

I do think the whole thing has gone too far though beyond simple acceptance of people's differences as now we are being forced to bow down to it. Have an elderly gay buddy, in his early eighties, who goes on about how ridiculous the lgbtzx and so on is as he can't keep up either. It's a modern problem that shouldn't be, especially the school/drag show for kids part.

XXY and XXX are extremely rare anomalies - did not refer to them as mental illness, they have a real, scientifcally provable condition

You are wrong google Klinefelter syndrome these people have extra X chromosome , these are men. There is also triple X syndrome when girl has extra x chromosome. Klinefelter men don´t look much different than XY they do have some femine look in them and many do not know they have it unless they are tested.

This thread highlights one of the things I've been observing and speculating about in regard to the current climate around transgenderism. The gay community and the trans community have always intersected in certain places and ways; however, gay people and trans people are of course different things. But in our current "all or nothing" climate, the gay community is now synonymous with what's becoming the hugely controversial, increasingly unpopular activist stance of the statistically quite small (despite current trends) trans community. Gays have won huge strides in terms of rights, acceptance, etc, and trans also; but with the current climate, it seems to me the inevitable backlash will be directed at the entire so-called "alphabet people" movement that has supplanted specific gay identity.

Two genders.
Male.
Female.
If you can plug in an extension cord you get it.
That's all.

Male and female, that's it.

Hermaphrodites etc are for want of a better expression mutations.

Doesn't mean I think they shouldn't be treated with the same respect and dignity as everyone else, but there are only two genders.

Sexuality is another thing altogether.
Personally I couldn't give a toss what consenting adults get up to but I am sick to #ing death of the LGBTQ+ or whatever its called agenda being driven so forcefully....its got to the point - a bit like BLM - where its starting to do more harm than good.
Here in the UK it is estimated that approximately 94% of the population consider themselves heterosexual....you would never get that impression from UK MSM etc where the LGBTQ+ brigade is massively over-represented.

'Non-male or female' persons account for somewhere between 0.1% - 0.5% of the total population.

The fact remains that a lot of teenage and younger girls at least around here, I include my 2 in this as well, are afraid to use the public restroom at school because of these new rules.

I mean really, common sense never kicked in with these people, "Oh I think today I'll be a girl"- Person. "That's ok person, you can be whatever you want to be, and you get to use the girls bathroom too" - Govt. Person thinks to self "Yeahhh I get to see some real little girls up close, this is awesome"

I wake up tomorrow I can't say "I identify as a Jelly Donut today" people would look at me funny, but a guy that really wants to go after little girls can suddenly identify as a girl and there's nothing we can do anymore because that's just homophobic and transphobic and whatever.

I was watching Strange New Worlds this week, the main villain was a guy dressed as a girl, it was obvious, they even on the show referred to it as Them.

Gene Roddenberry would have had a coronary because despite what people say, he was not a nice person. In fact they based Zephram Cochrane in First Contact after his personality. (Cromwell plays it off perfectly with his Island and naked girls comment).

I don't need this being shoved in my face in everything I watch, read or listen to.

Even I - who used to enjoy the pride events back in the day - am a little over it these days. Goes on too long, too corporate, has morphed from a community coming together and celebrating overcoming adversity to something that appears monolithic, self regarding and hounding out those who don't agree on every point of ideology. Too many kinks and paraphillias being presented as identities and demanding validation, too many adults with poor impulse control and boundary recognition. It's not a good look anymore.

The problem with many arguments these days is they become moralized and solutions presented as the right way or the wrong way. Life is messier than that, often a solution is the choice between what you consider the lesser of two evils. I personally don't agree that self ID should be an automatic pass to access women only spaces anywhere anytime. I fully understand that many innocent trans people will see that as exclusionary but someone feeling excluded is not a priority over the potential negative impacts on women should those spaces be open to fully intact men claiming to be a different gender. Of course I've been labelled a transphobe and useful idiot and all that does is exclude all people who may be largely sympathetic to the idea of trans rights just not all contested rights. That leaves only a hardcore, ideologically motivated minority out of step with the larger society alienated and distrusted. Then again I kind of wonder whether this is the overarching post modernist aim of all these divisive identity motivated movements.

who cares what people do with their own life or how they label themselves. They're not hurting anyone.

We are looking into it to hard. Let them be them and you do you. We are all humans with freedom of will.

The only time i have a problem is when someone tries to hurt others due to differences in lifestyle, social status, morality, ect...

Heterosexual agenda is reamed in kids way before kindergarten. Movies, stories ect... They see man with women. Men and women kissing, couples ect... They grew accustomed to it.

While, i won't be okay with teachers talking about sex, or sexual behaviors between couples of same sex or opposite sex. But i do think they should be able to witness different variety of couples and people so they don't grow up to be intolerant because of others lifestyle because they were in environment that was different. Basically to teach kids that it's okay that there is variety of different people then thinking one way is the right way.

I remember when i was in Catholic school in grade 4. One of the topic we learnt was 'life lessons" (of someshort) where there was talks about only men and women relationships and how women do cleaning and have babies while men work ect.. (no sex talk but i knew what sex was way before that).
