The Second hangs as a sword of Damocles against the Federal, State and Local governments. Gun Control laws (1934, 1968, 1986) have replaced that hair with 550 paracord. The latest talk seems to want it replaced with mule tape. They won’t be happy until that sword is long gone and hammered into chains that bind us all into serfdom.

You will own nothing and like it. Without the possibility of being shot in the process by our guns, what is to keep them from stealing…their good nature?

I will go out on a limb and say the Second keeps a lot of other countries in check. We could airdrop a whole lot of rednecks that outgun most armies in a 72 hour window. And that would be only giving them a ride while we gathered up real troops.

So way before you guys that dont have the 2nd and being helpless to the government is ingrained in your DNA

Watch the Woodstock film. Then think of the guys that were there that could have been drafted to Vietnam legally drinking beer at 18, but not able to vote until 21. I was not grandfathered for beer at 18 when it changed to 21 but some friends were.

Another odd grandfathered law was that I was able to buy a fully automatic Uzi. Ultimately I didn’t, but could had because it was in a legally gray area of the law at the time.

Proof of these forced vaccines might be nice.

Where is that now?

As to fun, if you imagine a big shiny weapon brings you freedom you must be a very little person, so there is that.

Still don't make you a Man at 18 nor 21 through, eyes of the law or otherwise, for the most part, they are still boys.

Where i hail from you are considered an adult at 16 Ahabstar.

That simply does not make it the case.

Especially so in this day of age.

So you were or were not on lockdown, why did you not see grandma for those couple of weeks?

are you being purposfully obtuse or just straight up lying?

On April 1, 2020, Governor DeSantis issued an executive order to restrict activities within the state to those deemed as essential services.[6] On September 25, 2020, Florida lifted all remaining capacity restrictions

COVID-19 pandemic in Florida

Just to be clear I dont want anyone to have to suffer lockdowns and i am not into bragging rights, but as you started this with an accusation of the rest of the world being idiots it was hard to not get involved

You guys are all just jealous .

Of course.
Is it half-term the other side of the pond as well?

You cant stand up to your governments you just have to do what you are told like good little slaves

I know World History isn't high on the agenda in the US but some knowledge of it does help.

Thank god we have the 2nd

I guess that depends on which particular God you prescribe to....I doubt the Jesus of The New Testament would be all that impressed but to be honest, I'm not really an expert on the subject.

Good luck with your forced vaccines and endless lockdowns

I don't know anything about 'forced' vaccines and there's certainly no lockdown and no sign of one either.

When the s### actually hits the fan you morons will be begging for America and their guns to save your ass

Morons?

If you're going to try and insult people at least try to be biting and original rather than incredibly boring and predictable.
Zzzzzz

This is why a lot of Americans get a bad rap. Posters like that....I am PRO 2A but wouldn't dare call people who disagree with me morons and make up things about what is going on in someone else's country without really knowing (apparently).

@just4fun I can absolutely guarantee most Brits are not 'jealous' of American's ability to own firearms. They largely think it's stupid/irresponsible/unnecessary. Do I disagree with that? Yes, but I wouldn't insult them and whine that they will be wanting us to 'save them' They have obviously allowed/voted for what is occurring in their country.

I know he isn't representative of all Americans....just amongst the most vocal.

Personally I think its impossible to compare the UK and US with regard to guns and gun control.
We may have many shared values and customs but guns is most definitely NOT one of them.

I don't think we need anything remotely resembling the Second Amendment here in the UK.
But neither do I think it would be wise to introduce UK style gun control laws in the USA.

But something does need doing because what you have at present simply isn't working.

In my opinion as a proponent of the 2A we need mandatory training classes before the FFL is able to turn over the weapon. They already do background checks.

Age of majority is an odd duck. Developmentally, male brains are still developing until 25. And even then we work on new pathways as we age and experience damages. As geriatrics kick in we lose more memory and emotional control until senility. Thus the older middle aged “get off my lawn” guy before the doddering old fool.

But back to guns. The US has variable criteria even within the US. As of May 31, the US has had between 6 and 818 mass shooting since January 1, 2022. Tulsa, OK yesterday is definitely 7. The old standard of four people shot doesn’t count in some countries at all. So there are apples and oranges and then there are apples and paper clips jus5 within the US. Foreign media is free to pick and choose what they like for their nightly propaganda.

But 6 or 818 out of upwards of 440 million guns in the hands of up to 200 million people is pretty darn good. That is the other part no one knows how many 300-440 million guns owned by 120-200 million people. We believe there are between 1/3 and less than 2/3 of the population are gun owners.

Sorting those kinds of numbers isn’t realistic. The consequences for being wrong are tremendous. You want to see a mass killing? Take the guns and let a mass/school shooting happen. The gun grabbers best flee the country, guarantee there would be blood.

Want fixes instead of grandstanding?
1) Committing a crime with a firearm puts the death penalty on the table automatically. This should cut down on muggings. And other random violence with a firearm.
2) Constitutional Carry in all 50 states except common sense areas like bars, jails and government buildings. Those 20 spectators may be armed…
3) $1 million tax free to stopping a mass shooter with your gun. …really cuts down on the hate crimes when you might make one of those 20 (fill in the blank) spectators a millionaire for capping your racist butt.
4) Controlling the media. Irresponsible reporting has glorified ultra violence. The media had the full copy of the Rodney King video. Yet only aired the beat down repeatedly. There were sympathy riots in more than just LA after the verdict. And those Columbine jerks killed my $500 leather trench coat due to the media making it a “warning flag” Even Obama got a free pass flying the St George Floyd flag over the warm bodies of these kids. Where was the fair and balanced media then?

You had a Republic under Cromwell for a bit…kinda. Beretta made cannons back then too…

But if you had kept it then we would still probably be a colony or a whipped pup like Canada.

And Jesus would have been all about telling you to swap your cloak for a FN Scar. I mean he traded up for swords back the day so why not?

Limey Git isn’t original either, but you would have appreciated the display of some history.

Third attempt.

Cromwell isn't my favourite Briton.
He never supported or campaigned for Universal Suffrage and believed that only Nobles and Landed Gentry had the right to vote and be represented in Parliament.
He turned his back on people who had supported him, people like John Lilburne and Gerrard Winstanley who deserve more recognition than what they get.
en.wikipedia.org...
en.wikipedia.org...

He became a tyrannical autocratic ruler who tolerated little dissention - a King in all but name.
Even when judging by the standards of the day his treatment of the Irish and Catholics in general was brutal and inexcusable.

But if you had kept it then we would still probably be a colony or a whipped pup like Canada.

The Restoration led to the Constitutional Monarchy we have today, some thing completely different to the Absolute Monarchy that many believe the UK to be.

Canada does as Canada see's fit - which is as it should be - which is quite clearly evidenced by the complete pig's ear they are making of things at present.

And Jesus would have been all about telling you to swap your cloak for a FN Scar. I mean he traded up for swords back the day so why not?

I openly admit I know nothing but the basics about guns, I'd never even heard of a FN Scar or anything about them until I just Googled it.
And if I'm being honest - which I always try to be - I don't get your reference about Jesus 'trading up for swords'....Sorry.

Limey Git isn’t original either, but you would have appreciated the display of some history.

Not original at all....but a hell of a lot better.👍

Controlling the media Ahabstar?

Come on man that's what Russia does.

As to the rest of those ideas, they also carry with them a lot of problems imho.

Just stop access where guns and firearms like the AR-15 are concerned to children and lunatics and introduce proper background checks.

Thats a start.

Still need to tackle the mental health aspects that flip these nutters over the edge in a realistic manner.

Luke 22:36 – Sell Your Cloak to Buy a Sword

Cromwell is a weird bump in English history that had long repercussions. One of the main lessons was that the US was not going to install a king because of the example of Cromwell. Under the Articles of Confederation before the Constitution presidents served for a year and was promoted from within the general assembly. The Articles had lots of problems but mostly taxation enforcement as states were told but failed to pay their fair share…similar to the NATO Treaty on providing armed forces. Which is why socialism experiments expanded under NATO and later EU member countries. No or little military spending freed up money.

Americans (that bother with any history) see him as an early example. Although a complete despot, his ultimate failure was failure to have stronger seconds to replace him other than his weak and ineffectual son. And probably set back Scotland joining the UK by 50 years. Also Cromwell’s religious prejudices contributed to the US Freedom of Religion, especially he way he went after Quakers.

Obama tried to remove Fox from the Press Pool because they didn’t play ball with him.

Trump revoked Jim Acosta’s pass for aggressive behavior, being uncooperative and disruptive. Finally Trump called him rude and Fake News. Credentials pulled. A different situation altogether.
