Go take a gun safety course. You will learn that course is about how to hopefully not accidently shoot yourself or the others you are hunting with. Some information is useful, some is just for idiots that have no understanding of guns.

There is nothing in a gun safety course to tell you how not to shoot up other people if you somehow go nuts. That is not covered. So, how would it have helped in this situation?

I didn't say that. I asked what is wrong with states rights. I have no problem with a state that wants to require training but....if someone wants to. They will take a class. They will buy a gun. They will kill someone.

People can also buy axes. Knives. Machetes. All with no classes....and kill people.

It is the person. Not the gun. If they want to kill they will.

Most of what's taught there is also covered in the gun's manual.

States rights do not supersede the federal Constitution.

I think it can produce a smarter owner..no? Some people are pretty f'ing stupid/careless. In fact, disregard "some" and lets just go with..a lot.

I have no real desire to wade into this sh#tstorm. It's a very sad situation, and as I said, I'm not anti gun, I love shooting, been doing it since I was 12. But this doesn't happen with the same frequency in pretty any other place..it is what it is. I don't have any real answer that solves it, but saying there is no problem, is not a fix..it probably can't be fixed anyway.

We have a fair number of guns here, but for the most part, they are stored differently than you guys might, and I think it keeps theft down. Different story for you guys, there are just so many already out there.

Just my 2c..not dying on this hill.

And can you imagine? Teachers are trained to lock the door immediately and not to open it no matter what. So if one of those children were banging on the door you can't let them in, in case they are being forced by the shooter. How horrific for a teacher to even have to be in that position.

They are not paid enough to have to go through this and everything else they have to deal with. So many people, even on ATS call them horrible names, yet we see these teachers give their lives trying to protect these children time and time again.

why is that, people carry cell phones. there are reports of people saying they saw him and the boarder patrol firing at one another before he went in the school. why is it so hard to believe someone caught him on their phone going in the school?

if you listen you can hear a guy in the video you posted say boom and what many think are gunfire in both.

Can someone please confirm if the weapons used were assault rifles or rifles on an AR platform. There is a big difference between the two. Assault rifles are illegal to purchase without the proper licenses. I have seen a few sites and comments saying they were assault rifles.

you can not buy a real assault rifle from a sporting goods store, even in TX.
he bought 2 rifle just days before, along with 375 rounds and didn't catch how many magazines from Oasis Outback.
don't rememeber if they said where he got the handgun.

Here is a timeline of events leading up to and during the attack:
May 17 Salvador Ramos purchases a semi-automatic rifle at a local sporting goods store called Oasis Outback.
May 18 Ramos purchases 375 rounds of ammunition for that rifle. It was not clear where he purchased the ammunition.
May 20 Ramos purchases another semi-automatic rifle, again at Oasis Outback.

reports say it was one hand gun and one of the semi automatic AR15's.

Yeah I know full auto weapons require special licenses regardless of the state. Just wanted some clarity too many people call these type of rifles assault weapons without knowing the difference between the two. Thanks for the time line. I pause at this.

11:32 a.m. Ramos enters the school through a west entrance and is approached by one Uvalde ISD school resource officer. No gunfire is exchanged. Ramos continues into the school.

Do we know hwy the Resource officer did not stop him there? Was he allowed to pass as if a normal student? Was there an altercation and the resource officer could not stop him? What was the break down here? I mean I will assume the rifle was exposed at this point so the resource office should of known it was an active shooter. I mean a resource officer IS a police officer correct?
