With an aggressive neighbor like Russia it's no wonder a small country like Finland is seeking security , what is happening in Ukraine has shown them the need for preemptive action , NATO membership is that action.

Let me remind you that in World War II Finland was the closest ally of Nazi Germany

So no doubt another country ripe for Denazification in Putin's eyes , and you wonder why they seek security.
Putin really is the best recruiting sergeant NATO could have.

Russia to cut electricity supply to Finland.

Electricity exports from Russia to Finland are being suspended from 01:00 local time (22:00 GMT) on Saturday. Finnish grid operator Fingrid said Russian utility Inter RAO was stopping supplies due to "problems in receiving payments for electricity sold on the market".
The announcement comes the day after Finland signalled its intention to join Nato. Finland only buys 10% of its electricity from Russia, and according to Fingrid it will make up the shortfall by sourcing more power from Sweden, and increasing generation in Finland.
Finland expects to become self-sufficient in electrical energy in 2023, the company added

NATO is not a country, is only a multilateral treaty of defense. I think you are mixing up EU with NATO.

If its history you are after it seems that Finland was a province of the Kingdom of Sweden for more than 600 years until it was annexed by Russia as a "grand-duchy" at the "Diet of Porvoo" in 1809.
