Also, if you read the steps he is proposing to avoid future pandemics, it doesn't actually include mass lockdowns, but rather, only very specific quarantine of the infected.

Also, what alternative do you propose if therapeutics and vaccines aren't yet available for a rapidly spreading infectious and occasionally fatal disease - should everyone just let people die?

its natural for the forest to burn now and then, yes.
one reason we have such bad wildfires is that the old growth is untouched (environmentalists demand) so there's a ton of fuel.
naturally, the forest burns now and then to make room for new growth.
