I have said it before many times and I will say it again: mathematics is the simplest course one will ever take. It's just a language, and one that is very powerful and very easy to understand. I can take anyone who wants to learn, and in six months have them loving math and being good at it. Anyone. TheRedneck

Part of the problem is that I was changing schools at the very minimum every 3 years, sometimes up to 3 schools in one year. # Military brat!

I went to 3 different kindergartens, and 3 different 9th grades! Now that I think about it that was nuts, but it was just normal life for us at the time.

5.2.2022 update

Biden has been thinking about cancelling student loans for over a year, and he's still thinking.

nypost.com...

As of this morning, President Biden was leaning towards limiting the debt cancellation amount to $10,000 and placing income restrictions on who is eligible for the $10,000 loan cancelation.

I pay my bills. I’m not lazy. Everyone should get $10k.

Why do you have to be young and stupid and indoctrinated into being a lazy liberal to get $10k?

The price of higher education is going through the roof because the government guarantees the loan and will let anyone get a loan. This causes the schools to up the tuition price and keep the kids in school by any means necessary like keeping it easy enough for kids to pass that shouldn’t even be there. Having degrees in lesbian dance for $40k a year as an example or giving kids a teaching degree that can get them $33 k a year for the $200k they spent.

Two things will solve it. Stop guaranteeing the loans. If you can’t pay it back you can dissolve it through bankruptcy like any other debt. Also loans are to be paid back as a percentage of their earnings for ten years and that is all they should pay.

This will push schools to find and compete for the best students most likely to make the most money. They will end the lesbian dance degrees and push more engineering degrees that are useful. Kids that shouldn’t be in school will not be given loans because they are not likely to pass a degree that would make it worth their wild or the schools’s.

It will promote more community college, more trade schools, more entrepreneurs, and more degrees that can actually put the country to work in a meaningful way while simultaneously getting a lot of left wing nuts in ivory towers fired for not developing students that can bring money back to the schools.

That is my solution that republicans should back.

I agree with it

Education should be based on the goal of developing students, but not on their money. They must spend it on schools, colleges, and universities. But they don't get a quality education. I learned more from such sources as this website, but not at school. I hope things change soon, and my daughter, that goes to school the following year will get a good experience.

Republicans are far more interested in giving bailouts to publicly traded corporations than they are interested in admitting that their neighbor's 17 year old kids were conned into taking on debt by loan sharks & society , debt that can't be eliminated through bankruptcy.

There are churches that have received PPP loan forgiveness! Perhaps those churches ought to give out free breast feeding classes or start a wet nurse program in these bad times

Cancelling Student Loans is nuts. Student Loans, if government backed, should be direct garnishments when you work based on your salary. 1% of your post-tax earnings. It will be eventually paid and is not a burden.

As far as 46's plan, removing 10k does not nothing. It is purchasing votes.

Well, we have a public student loan forgiveness program that ends loans after 10 years . Military also has student loan repayment. Media outlets (to include conservative) never seem to bring this up. Guess cause they involve work, commitment, and service.

Would be open to expanding PSLF to perhaps people majoring in fields we have shortages in. Problem is someone has to determine what those majors are and if it’s the federal government we would end up with gender studies and packaging science deemed critical.

Fully agree, since children (elder teens in colleges) still can't even have a proper income and the authorities are getting money on them already. It's just not fair, Idk, maybe I'm not right, but I am dreaming about, at least, full student loans without returning for every adolescent predicted to study.

Here is my solution, most if not all universities have endowment funds usually in the Billions especially the big universities.

The universities should pay the unresolved debt from the students they taught with those endowments

Then the student loan process needs to be completely change no more anyone get a loan they have ti be backed by lifetime earnings etc.

There's a reason why "Spring Break" is at the time of the second disbursement of Student Loans. The first one covers the tuition and books. Some see the Second as party money.

FYI 8.21.2022

Biden Admin to cancel existing Student Loans: www.washingtonexaminer.com...

Those of us who did NOT get our loans cancelled, will pay-off the loans of those who Biden-Democrats bribe, in the hope of getting their vote.

Are there still gullible, short-sighted Americans who will approve of this?
