If anyone had been pushing Russia to the edge its US/NATO. They are defending Ukraine but for their own interests not because of democracy or freedom.

Oh boy, I think you are underestimating NATO, they know everything there is to know about the forces of Russia. They been preparing for a confrontation since the cold war. The difference between NATO and Russia is that Russia is openly flexing its military power. NATO is not flexing, but what lies in the shadows are well prepared and willing to confront any Russian provocations against a NATO country. Sure, Russia could use its nukes.. but NATO is also prepared for that, Russia do not have enough nukes to prevent its own downfall. NATO have technology that Russia could only dream of.

Many are interpreting the thing incorrectly but if you wanna be truly nihilistic and full of doom you should be worried about the mutually assured annihilation clause we both have since it means the extinction of mankind basically if either side launches a nuke as the losing side renders the world uninhabitable altogether as a last gesture of a middle finger to mankind.
