The way I feel about it is the people that have lived on that land all their lives get to decide where and who the land belongs to not nationalists that go on TV talking about how the population on that land is superfluous and should be exterminated.
History also tells us what happens when people who talk like that gain power.

What the plane shot down by Russian backed Separatists inside a 'breakaway' region of Ukraine they were attempting to take over?
During the entire conflict period, from 14 April 2014 to 31 March 2020, OHCHR recorded in total 3,055 conflict-related civilian deaths (1,814 men, 1,057 women, 98 boys, 49 girls and 37 adults whose sex is unknown). Taking into account 298 deaths on board of Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 on 17 July 2014, the total death toll of the conflict on civilians has reached at least 3,353. The number of injured civilians is estimated to exceed 7,000.

Flush with western ideas of freedom and prosperity.

Flush with western ideas of freedom and prosperity.
The two ideas arent mutually exclusive.
The choice is Ukraine's, not russia's.
Even the ones in the East?
It would not involve foreign run 'elections', illegal decrees, or violence intended to help achieve their objective.

Not the US. It was a bunch of greedy politicians and mega-corporations. Where else can a politician send their worthless son to become super-rich for doing nothing? What did he do? He signed some papers making him an owner of a bunch of shell corporations and fronts. That is it.
As for US operations, they can't wait to get their hands on drilling and mining rights.
If it all goes south like it is now the defense industry MIC makes a fortune restocking military surplus. The oil and gas get to a become the major suppliers to the EU without having much competition from Russia. Also, Russia was a major supplier of food so our farmers are going to be working overtime to meet EU demand.
I forget what it was that Ukraine grew. Wheat I think, and they were a major exporter. If the war drags that supply will be supplanted by US growers as well.
This war is going to make a lot of people rich or richer while we the peons are going to suffer the higher prices and shortages while our tax dollars are fed to the defense industry/MIC to restock and supply. Merca Feck Yea

The responsibility for investigation was delegated to the Dutch Safety Board (DSB) and the Dutch-led joint investigation team (JIT), who concluded that the airliner was downed by a Buk surface-to-air missile launched from pro-Russian separatist-controlled territory in Ukraine.[3][7] According to the JIT, the Buk that was used originated from the 53rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade of the Russian Federation[8][9] and had been transported from Russia on the day of the crash, fired from a field in a rebel-controlled area and the launch system returned to Russia afterwards.

The elections had nothing to do with areas seceding it was a presidential election, and your accusations of U.S. election interference have always lacked any actual evidence.
Nice try though.
