The cult Paris-Nice race always marks the opening of the cycling season in the spring, and this year there have been massive dropouts after the massive vaccinations. According to RMC Sport, only 59 of the 154 participants made it to the finish. This clearly negative record is justified in the article by the too demanding course setting and the unfavorable weather conditions. In addition, 30% of professional cyclists had to give up because of flu symptoms.

Italian cyclist Sonny Colbrelli collapsed on Monday after the first stage in the Tour of Catalonia, in which he finished second behind Australian Michael Matthews. The European road champion and most recent winner of Paris-Roubaix received a chest compressions and was then taken to hospital. After the sprint Colbrelli was unconscious. He was transported to hospital in stable condition. What happened to Colbrelli in Catalonia keeps the whole pack busy. There are many sick people. Tom Teulingkx, president of the Belgian Association of Sports and Examination Doctors (VSK), said: "We have regularly seen athletes with myo- and pericarditis in recent weeks."

Nothing to see here, this happens every time, pretty normal. Seriously?

Hold on. So is that 30% of the professional cyclists had to give up before the race due to having flu symptoms?

Out of the 154 (100%), only 59 (38.31%) participants made it to the finish. Meaning 95 (61.69%) participants did not.

Oh it's you sanders with those websites again. Not sure whether to trust those websites or not.

But damn that it a lot of people if true. The percentage is concerning.

Has there ever been a lower number of completions?

1980 126 entries 58 completions

Why do you think something is off with the numbers, I am not someone who watches cycling perhaps others may give some reasons.

Roglič led the field of 59 finishers with a 29 second gap to the BikeExchange-Jayco rider and 2:37 to third-placed Dani Martinez (Ineos Grenadiers). It was the smallest finisher list since 1985 as a raft of retirements through illness and injury was then exacerbated by poor weather on the final day. Eight riders called it quits before the start while another 29 dropped out during the stage.

Look at the rankings, only 59 made the finish.

The title is misleading. They mention they didn't race because they had illness, flu like symptoms, bronchitis, sinusitis and fevers. All the other articles did not mention anyone collapsing.

The last time this happened was 1985.

This remark "We have regularly seen athletes with myo- and pericarditis in recent weeks." made me suspicious.

Well, here is a report of at least one cyclist collapsing from cardiac arrest in a different race. Maybe someone got the two confused?

Sonny Colbrelli suffered cardiac arrhythmia when he collapsed at the finish line Monday at the Volta a Catalunya.

That’s according to team doctors at Bahrain-Victorious, who say they are still working to determine the cause of Colbrelli’s dramatic health scare while the Italian recovers in a Spanish hospital.

Sure, could have been. I wasn't upset or angry about the title, just expected to find that the racers had collapsed by the title instead of not racing or dropping out.

If this were vax related there would be an army of lawyers gathering. These events are worth big money. They'd be suing everyone and their dog by now.

Seriously not everything is vax related.

Do we even know if any of them were vaxxed at all?

No there wouldn't be an army of lawyers.
Even those brainwashed who collapse don't blame the jab.
I am sure that maybe one might want to try and get justice, but lawyers cost money and you need hard evidence or you'll lose.
With evidence being banned, studies being disallowed, doctors and virologists being constantly poo pooed, nobody wants to start a personal claim.
Hopefully some will join a class action, but letting just one win, that would cause an avalanche of claims, which those in power want to avoid at all costs.
Having said that, some people have won compensation for loved ones dying. But you don't hear about it on the msn.

Common sense and life experiences are brilliant at answeing all your questions.

If true, it would be big news in the cycling websites forums and publications.

Wow only 59 made it to the finsh line. I thought it wasn't allowed to sue the vax makers. According to the vax contracts, even if there is a law suit the government is obligated to defend the vax makers.

Regarding the flu symptoms, it could be that some people are much more afraid of the flu now. They're afraid of catching it, and if they have any symptoms at all, they are now much more afraid of giving it to others. A few years ago, they would not have been nearly as concerned about it.

The lawyers have gathered and a sh#* storm is ready to hit when they are allowed to sue.

I don't think so. Thread is about cyclists who didn't finish the race. Links state they were sick with the flu, etc and then there are posts talking about suing.

So, who would some with the flu or bronchitis sue?
