Exactly as NATO estimates between 7,000 to as many as 15,000 Russian troops. It's an estimate but is not far off. At this point the death toll of Ukrainians civilians by Russian troops in total is also of course unknown, which is estimated at 900 but is likely much higher.

I have seen footage of Ukrainians piling up mountains of dead Russians on Twitter. I didn't keep the link, and wouldn't post it if I did.

Why do you give a pass to a Russian regime that is shelling / bombings civilian areas in mass with no clear military objective leading to the death of untold civilians?

Certain posters on ATS have hit a new and noxious low on another let them eat cake ruler that is actively causing death of everyday normal civilians and ruining their livelihoods.

I though the point of ATS was to not tolerate any normal civilian group being used as canon fodder by any corrupt government.

You bitched about lockdowns, and what Putin is doing to the normal Ukrainian civilian is way worse.

Serious question, what is Putin gaining for the Russian and Ukrainian civilians in this unprovoked invasion.

I bet the opposite is closer to the truth. There has been one sure bet for a few years now. Everything the media and left says, the opposite is true. Every single time without failure, so why is it different now?

I wouldn’t believe anything the MSM tells you about the war. It’s officially a propaganda machine for the US government. Just like the Covid death tolls are very inaccurate, one should also question the Russian death tolls in Ukraine. They are most likely lies and at most inaccurate.a reply to: Brassmonkey

Almost 900 destroyed Russian vehicles have been verified. So that would mean something like 8 to 16 casualties per vehicle. Seems plausible, especially when you consider that not all destroyed vehicles are documented.

5 Russian Generals killed. Compared to 2 who where killed in Afghanistan during 9 years of war.

On March 2, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that:

"Unfortunately, there are casualties among our comrades participating in a special military operation.

498 Russian servicemen were killed in the performance of military duty. The families of the deceased are being provided with all possible assistance.

1,597 of our comrades were injured."

I notated nothing about how things were going .
I merely commented on the narrative and the video .
As far as who is "winning" , I refuse to comment as I don't know and I have seen strange things on TV over my long time .

and while not technically prosecuted, No Gun Ri, was extensively investigated by multiple parties.

Those are just two examples.

Not to derail the thread - I, too, find the casualty count to be suspect - but war crimes are frequently investigated and sometimes prosecuted.

Russia could have rolled over and taken any city in Ukraine easily. Avoiding complete destruction of cities and civilian casualties is what slows things down. Add to that the influx of Weapons for civilians and militias from the West also slows any advance.

MSM journalists got their practice writing articles in news papers. You ever been interviewed for a local paper, then read the article the next day, it’s as if someone else gave the interview, it’s completely different from you told the journalists.

They are under reporting civilian deaths so there would be no “outrage”, and over reporting Russian deaths so it looks nato is not needed.
