My believe is Putin is irrational, possibly on drug's for cancer and maybe dying but I NEVER took him for the sort of loon who would destroy the world if he can't have it.

I don't think Russia wants to be destroyed. Putin can't rain nukes on us without us raining them back on him. MAD is still in place. There has been admittedly some pretty scary rhetoric the past couple weeks, but Russia can't rain fire on us without suffering the exact same fate. For that reason, I still don't think it will happen. The Russian military is still pretty professional, and I don't really believe they will suffer the orders of a suicidal lunatic. A man who wants to destroy Russia's percieved enemies at the cost of destroying Russia is a domestic enemy of that country. They have families and they don't want to see them die any more than we want to see ours die. So, pray that I am right.

If it's true he moved his family to bunkers though, there can only be one reason for that. He's gotta be planning on first nuke strikes all over. Remember back several months ago when some thought Putin would attack Ukraine but a majority didn't? Even UK was surprised he actually followed through with it. Even Putin denied it:

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if Putin dropped some nuclear weapons or worse. Just take a look at the world today, even people on this site. They're tired, apathetic, even looking forward to war or TEOTWAWKI. Tired and many are a little crazy or even a lot. It only takes one mentally 'off' person and many will be pushing daisies. And there are a LOT of mentally ill people in the world today. Common sense and decency have left the majority. It's a NEW day, NEW rules, NEW ways, NEW WORLD ORDER. I just watched a video on YT regarding hydrogen and so many of the comments were related to how much awesome information used to be on YT but now we get to watch videos on melting crayons as a science experiment.

I'm not fear mongering. But let's face it, it's not if, it's when. It would be silly to think that nations have been building ELE/weapons to just 'scare' each other into conforming and such.

Yup, kind of goes against by avatar but, I do have hope. That's my optimism.

As for the article an MSM story? yah, about that... people close, heard from a source, may etc. etc. I've been being told Russia was going to nuke us since I've been born. It really sucked though when they nuked us the first time. How much worse can the 57th time be?

If you want true insight, watch what they do, not what they say. Particularly true in the case of politicians, since with them 'say' and 'do' are often opposites.

In that regard this is possibly the most important thread on ATS.

Sure the Daily Express story that inspired this OP is more than likely (and hopefully) highly creative, knowing that conservative, hawkish flag waving tabloid. But it raises the point of how members here with time to spare fretting about Ukraine should spend their minutes: Searching for any signs that politicians, or those that are likely to be 'in the know' are getting the hell out of dodge.

We the public will be the last to be told of existential escalation and that announcement will be a 4 minute warning (perhaps far less given Putin's new toys). Putin is a canny chess player for the most part (his botched invasion aside). He knows his greatest strength should it go nuclear is speed and surprise. If he decides all out war is inevitable he'll strike first with everything he has.

...This is why diplomacy and discretion is key in not allowing that narrative to take root in his mind. He must be treated with respect to deescalate this. For those that cry 'But he's a tyrant, a nutter, we shouldn't give him the time of day...' grow up! This is end of the world territory and you do what it takes to avoid that mass slaughter; anything we could do, but don't do on vain principle makes as culpable in the end result.

The OP story is probably just clickbait, although they are a Tory mouth piece so perhaps it's an Boris endorsed ill concieved psy-op to try and turn Putin's people against him. NONE OF THAT has to be true, for us to be in a perilous situation.

If you read the article itself, it's sourcing is as solid as the "I was impregnated by an alien, and had his child!" stories in the National Enquirer. It mentions "news reports", but doesn't mention who/what/where/when/why about these "news" reports.

And it mentions "sources" with NO mention of the veracity of these sources.

This article came from 2 or 3 goofballs, having drinks and quoting each others goofy ideas.

Various "insiders" and media outlets have been claiming Putin moved his family to the secret underground city since operations in the Ukraine began. It would seem that this claim might be propaganda.

If I were Mr. Putin , I would not be Depressed at All , but Confidently Optimistic that the Free " Peoples " of the West , and Not their Tyrannical Government Representatives , Will see the Reason for a Peaceful Diplomatic Settlement to the Recent Hostilities in the Ukraine .
