I was so glad ATS was back I just had to post.

I gained three pounds while ATS was down......too much time to cook. We also went out grocery shopping and spent a couple hundred bucks filling in deficiencies in our pantry before prices go up. There were some pretty good sales in the grocery stores for a change, so it was time to stock back up.

I gotta be honest, I didn't really mind going 5(6?) days without reading anything at all about Biden, Covid, Russia or Ukraine. I actually didn't even realize until just now that I hadn't read anything about those things....


On the other hand, I just found out today that I'm not working the next couple days so this was good timing for me...

Fake news is indistinguishable from real news. Perhaps it has always been that way. Sites like ATS (my favorite) could become the new mass media. Only there you will see word and reply. And you can judge for yourself.

Yeah mama. After the first few hours of checking, wondering if it was my computer, I went to just doing one check a morning. I almost thought about not checking Monday morning but thought that if there was some kind of purposeful shutdown, that maybe Monday morning would be the day. Had it not been up I think I would have then gone on without it. That hiatus proved to me that I could.

And there it was. It was strange. No new posts at all and I thought that maybe it had clicked back on broken. Like an empty house. But I clicked on the forums group and up it came so I found the forum this is in and sure enough it accepted my typing and there was the reply button so I pushed it and here we are.

OPps I need more of an opening post so here goes.

That's funny, I usually have the exact opposite problem; I write so much that I hit the stupid word limits - yes, even this site has a word limit for posts, which is of course absolutely ridiculous, but what can you do. I guess they never thought people would actually write a lot - and this tiny box is visually disturbing and limiting, it's like putting some kind of eye flaps on a horse so it can't see all the traffic.

Is this really necessary in 2022? In any case, I find it more comfortable to actually compose the message in a text editor and then just copy and paste it here, but of course laziness often wins, so then I subject myself to the horror of these awful forum 'typing boxes' that piss me off to no end. Why can't I see five pages of text if I am so inclined?

(I mean, that would require quite a small font and vertical monitor, but it's worth it)

I want to tell you to use 'are', because it's plural, but then I realize the word 'news' is one of those irritating english language quirks, where it looks like it's plural, but it's actually both singular and plural. As in "This is a good news" - almost no one says "These are good news".

In any case, you are wrong. Lies, errors, disinformation and misinformation are always distinguishable from truth and real information and knowledge, let alone wisdom.

Why would it be otherwise? Only blind fools are duped by ANYTHING fake, whether it's make-up on a 'pretty' woman's face that makes an ugly pig-monster into a 'passable, almost-humanoid face-lookalike', or bodily curve constructions designed to sub-consciously create hormonal disruption in the internal bio-mechanics of a male body.

Why would you make such a claim? OF COURSE it's distinguishable, why would it be otherwise? Maybe to a child, it's indistinguishable, but come on, seriously, what's your motivation for making this kind of absurd claim?

You own your OWN internet? I don't think so. Please don't make such ridiculous claims.

Even if you mean 'your internert CONNECTION' (a VAST difference!), you can't seriously expect anyone here to believe you don't know about 'Is it down'-type checking sites or proxies you can use to test whether a site is up or down? They will usually tell you 'It is you' or 'It is not you', and then tell whether they were able to access the site or not, or at least get a ping reply or something.

Indeed. Indistinguishable to those of us incapable of distinguishing. So, why are some incapable of distinguishing? Good question Terry. What do you think Shouj? Might it be because for millennia we have basically trained ourselves to just accept at face value the prevailing story of our local tribes and cultures? After all it was those story lines that were the basis of our survival, how to use our tools, when to plant and when to migrate. All those things that enabled us to make it from year to year?

I think that the motivation for such a claim that you have made it a point to question could be the current meme of don't believe the MSM. It has become so popular that certain leaders(?) now use it constantly in concert with the promise that ''truth'' can only be found by believing what they themselves have to say. This of course does not seek to help in the development of ones capacity to learn how to distinguish for themselves.
