a reply to: ketsuko Ever notice when a pic of a multi eyed individual or entity is portrayed with many eyes like that how it throws off the facial recognition feature in our minds a bit? I always thought there was more to this phenomenon actually. Hmm?

They aren't bad at all and don't have fangs that could penetrate human skin. Their webs are something else we had them here in Georgia a while back,

Not a lot of people know that the "Daddy Long legs" is extremely poisonous but their fangs are to small to bite us .

"Daddy-Longlegs are one of the most poisonous spiders, but their fangs are too short to bite humans"

That is an old "Southern Wive's Tale" .
But still touted today .

It's not that bad folks .
I have seen plenty .
The webs look evil though .

I believe that only the babies deploy the parachute and fly and so do a number of native species. Not all that scary when they're the size of a pin head. Having a sky full of big ass spiders would be creepy as hell!!

All web-spinning outdoor spiders "fly" when leaving the "nest"
They shoot a line of web into the sky and "catch the breeze" .

That is an often misquoted misnomer. Daddy long legs are not posionous or venemous, as properly identified. There are 2 types of daddy long legs that we confuse. The cellar spider and the other is not a spider and has no fangs at all. That’s the one you usually see in your house. They don’t even spin webs

Yes daddy long legs are more like giant mites or a tiny scorpion and do have tiny fangs, no venom, but nasty saliva.
The skinny on DLL (Daddy yada yada yada)

Here Daddy Longlegs, the drunken face-palmers of windows worldwide, are called Crane Flies, so surely they’re a fly. Try telling that to my kids though.

I'd rather wrestle a polar bear than have a spider on me. eww.

You sure?

Polar Bears eat parts that leave you alive for a few agonizing minutes.

Nice..another invasive species to add to the list..Have heard of foreign actors having this in their long term bag of tricks though…Lots of decorative plants come from odd ball places where who knows what lives..Its a creepy tactic if You really consider it..Ship a bunch of plants here that have arse eating tetse fly larvae in the soil and problems start to exist. What if that giant spider only eats a spieces of fly that is necessary for a type of bats survival..Those foreign actors I mention think that way and even deeper..chipping away

A bucket of those spiders would be great for information extraction.

I'm just the opposite
.

I'd rather fight a Spider the size of a bear than fight an actual Bear .

Bears are Omnivorous creatures or a better way to describe them would be to say they are opportunistic Predators , They eat what ever is most easily available to them .

Which could be berries or a wounded Deer or a Slow Fat Human , and they eat everything the same just one bite at a time while they hold it down and it screams . Bears do not kill there prey quickly , they don't go for the Arteries nor do they suffocate there prey they just use there weight and strength to hold and eat .

So no I'd take the spider , a Bear is one of my worst nightmares.

SORY BUT A SPIDER WIL WRAP YOU IN A CACCON OF WEB THEN INJECT YOU WITH SOME JUICE THAT TURNS YOUR INSIDES INTO SOUP THEY CAN SIP AT LIESURE FOR A WEEK while you are hanging there still alive.

sorry for the cap lock.

i had a little jumping spider hanging around my desk for awhile. cute little bugger. i felt bad i didn't know what i could feed it. i don't mind them.

Dude. Im going to try to explain this right so You can picture it.
Im sitting in a basement watching the street cams on the cable channel of the city I was in. There were like ten different cams that the channel had on auto loop..couldnt zoom or anything..anyway..im sitting there watching one day and a high view cam of the overpass came on (they stayed on each view about 30 seconds) and all the sudden a perfect silhouette of a scorpion was in the middle of the tv screen..what the crap..serious man..thought I was seeing things..waited.. next round there it was again..over time it would crawl out at different times on the lense so I started watching more..One day SHE came out and started bouncing up and down like crazy..I was listening to music and baked so I thought SHE was dancing..when SHE stopped bouncing and walked out of view I noticed a tiny globule left on the center of the lense..It had four little short anchors on it..I came to the conclusion it was an egg sac and I named her Estrella Mañana (morning Star) I continued to watch for her but she came back less and less till no more..Couldnt tell if the sack hatched I watched closely for tiny guys running across the screen but never saw any.

I know I wasn't seeing things. I made My Friend at the time watch it from his TV also..
Then I thought I saw a You tube video of a guy climbing a pole and retrieving a scorpion egg sac. It was weird af. Im pretty sure it was coincidence though..damn utility workers.stealin the babies..I was mad for a min or two.a reply to: vonclod

They look quite pretty. Almost like ones I've seen in Hawaii, those ones had neat web designs.

Oh! And obligatory freak out👍🏼😁

Stay calm and watch this peacock spider do a happy dance... Tell me spiders aren't cuddly, cute, endearing and highly intelligent.
