I am quite fortunate to be where I am at in life at this point. I lost my wife to cancer in August of 2020. It was 7 years of her fighting and I cared for her day and night while working 55 hours a week. After she passed I had to search my soul and rediscover what drove me and here I am. She always felt guilty I gave up my interests to care for her. I always told her she was my first best interest and as long has I can care for her that would be priority.
Different priorities these days. I wish you the best. A family is a very worthwhile endeavour!

Very sorry to hear that.

I'm a senior network engineer with a large telecommunication company. I fix, maintain/support firewalls and switches - 25 years in IT. Boring but I can work from home and plenty of opportunities if I get smoked.

Sometimes I do engineering and beat my workers.

I spend a lot of time with my little girls to make sure I keep them off the pole.

But, when you put it this way, maybe the pole's not so bad.

I was a software developer in my 20s.

But I dropped my career, and took some time off in Florida to go through some kind of depression.

I've since started back from zero, working random odd jobs.

Since then, I've worked
in a print shop,
at a garage,
in a restaurant,
at a convenience store,
as maintenance in an old folks home,
and now I work as a security agent.

I don't know if I'll ever go back to my career, I kinda like the simple life of low means, as odd as it sounds.

I find peace and comfort in humility and simplicity.

Mining engineer (coal... and yes, the industry is being "phased out", in this country anyway. Not so much in other places in the world. Most of the clients we work for ship the majority of their product overseas).

And, wannabe writer. I currently have two novels and a collection of short stories published. Link here:

My degree is psychology.
I was working with preschool children.
I homeschooled too.
But for the past handful of years my job is just to survive the day.
I have a lot of health issues.
