Russia’s military says it has prevented a “diversionary reconnaissance” group from breaching the border from Ukraine.

Five troops were killed in the incident, the Russian defence ministry said on Monday, which allegedly took place in Russia’s southwestern Rostov region at about 03:00 GMT.

Kyiv dismissed the allegation as “fake news”.

My uncle is currently living in the Ukraine he is Scottish expat and he has lived there for some time
between Ukraine and Canada

He likes to give me updates on how the locals feel about it and also what he thinks, he is an elder statesman now in his 80s he was a freelance journalist and writer and so he has a good understanding of the media system.

He seems to think its all just saber-rattling as usual with muscle flex on the border just for show
nothing new under the sun he says.

My uncle and his partner cant leave as they both had covid so are in isolation and cant follow the guidelines to return to Canada.

Churchills famous advice "jaw jaw rather than war war" is very sound in this case.
Putin has his own warped agenda and does not want to lose face but there is a good chance that he will find a way. His top henchmen - Lavrov and Shoygu (spelling)? - will prevail against the boss not to attack, saving face and saving the world from war.

All in all, I suspect that it will be resolved in the coming weeks. If not We (ira and I and anna's parents) Live across the river from Europes largest Nuclear power plant so the duck and cover instructions will come in handy if it's blown up. Again, I'm optimistic. Another option is to go to the Falkland Isles - the safest place in the world. Now for my nightcap and sweet dreams

No evidence, just Bidenism.. Just like people claimed people had TDS, people have BDS. It doesn't matter what they do, he will get criticized. No mention of previous decisions that help set the stage for this stuff. I mean we are still getting what about Hillary stuff here.. My uncle updated me today to say that this morning in his area of Ukraine
that the banks are all closed, the ATMs are all not working, the queues for the shop are 40+ deep
as with the petrol stations , he is hearing rumours abound , both pro and con
and his taxi driver charged him double to take him to the store etc to stock up on the three b's, beer bread and botatoes

As much as I know your loathe to admit but this is a situation that Biden inherited and is not of his making.

I don't like the man and think he's a hopeless incompetent and is an embarrassment to the USA, but he didn't cause this.
The blame lies squarely at the foot of all his predecessors and other leaders and policy makers in NATO/EU and most definitely not least of all the ego driven Putin.
