I couldn't stop thinking about this while working and have come to the conclusion that I hope D’Monterrio Gibson files a civil suit claiming he now has PTSD and is afraid to work and takes Gregory and Brandon Cases' house, money, and any other assets. A precedent like that could help prevent this kind of stuff in the future.

I think he did have a few weeks off claiming anxiety after they wanted him to return to work the following day. I can imagine it was such a scary situation as it would be for anyone, especially him as he knew what happened the last time 2 men tried to stop someone in a neighborhood. I guess he should be grateful he had the vehicle and wasn't caught on foot before he got to the vehicle.

I also read that after a bit of an uproar FedEx has now decided to pay him for the time he was off.

Oh I agree about the optics of it all, no argument here.

My point is, the same optics it may have had in my example, the delivery guy trying to seek out how to access the drop space or find someone, to drop his package = snooping around.

Regardless the skin color.

This, to me, is another case of why run? When people run they 'become' more suspicious.

Was this a private road?
Secluded area?
Who cares what race they are?

My neighbor is in his late 60's. Retired Master Chief USN. He almost shot a UberEats driver that drove into his driveway be accident. It was only 8:30 at night. People are protective of their property.

Is it smart? No
Should they have shot at him? No
Should they do some time for it? Yes
Is this a hate crime? No

Sick of hearing the race angle. Sometimes people are just dumb...and here most of you are calling either for violence or blaming racism.

My first question would be? WHY?.. (What made them do this)?
I don't get all wrapped up in the,... they "tried" to "block and shoot" a FedX driver.

A "Hertz rental truck" isn't exactly a "non-suspected" vehicle. The U.S. Government uses "lease" vehicles all the time, for illegal stuff.

I'd love to be on the "jury" for these two. LOL!

Using the government agent logic, "if you didn't do anything wrong"?... "We wouldn't have chased or shot at you".

FedX driver needs to grow a pair.

I'm sorry, why run? I'm driving, people have weapons and try to stop me, I'm supposed to stop, get out of my vehicle and see what they want? Seriously? I'm in my work vehicle and my work uniform, I'm not stopping for a couple of goofballs with a gun for any reason.

Sounds like your neighbor has a problem. Someone breaking your home? Fine, defend yourself as necessary, someone pulling in your driveway? Take a peek, see them pull back out, get on with your day.

Ok, even if his uniform was fake and he was part of some nefarious plot, what makes it a neighbors right to shoot at him on the street. Again, if he was attacking or kidnapping your neighbor, step in for sure, but this? What is a possible excuse?

FedX driver needs to grow a pair.

What? This wasn't a combat zone, and the driver didn't sign up for that. Maybe, just give him some time to let the pair he already has drop back down, and watch his lawyer do the combat.

Im not making up excuses for these idiots....

Gibson was reportedly driving a Hertz rental van bearing “Hertz markings on the side.” The vehicle was described in local news reports as being “not an official FedEx truck,”

But Fedex is using unmarked vehicles and people w/ no uniforms to delivery people's stuff. WTF thought THAT was a good idea? Having random people walk up to people's doors. Neighbors have no idea if the person is delivering or stealing packages.

Some of the security cameras such as Ring, at times does not pick up a person coming....but will pick them up leaving. So even then, is the person delivering or stealing..............when they are not in uniform and getting into an unmarked vehicle.

I can see why delivery people are getting in trouble with idiots like these father/son duo.
Not an excuse.....but Fedex MUST stop this practice. Figure out a different solution....because I myself have had stuff delivered this way and I dont know WTF is on my porch - and I am well armed and have a dog who will k1ll strangers.

I know he has a problem. NO doubt.

As far as pulling a gun he was in a residential neighborhood. A small town. Not the back alleys somewhere. I would have stopped. No shots would have been fired. Instead he tries to get away during a tense situation and it escalated.

I would love to see video of this. I don't believe either side of the story right now so I will not pass judgement but I am thinking there is much more to the stories.

Dude, there's been some majorly frakked up stuff here that fits your scenario. Some dude just ran a red light at 100 mph killing a whole family of seven. He had numerous speeding tickets and other crimes, a few felonies, and he was still able to go out there and kill himself, his passenger and a whole freaking family just POOF!...vanished. Apparently this dude wasn't on drugs or alcohol from the many times he was cited, he was just a crazy speed demon. Either that or the cops were really stupid and missed it.

The system is broken, we all know that. Broken in so many ways it's ridiculous. It's like a broken clock, only right twice a day if they are lucky.

People should think before they do this kind of crap. Someone who is not a cop, standing in the middle of the road and pointing a gun at me is getting run over. My dashcam will back up my story.
First question I had while reading this story was:

Why would the driver even have to try and prove his version of the events? Don't all of these companies have dashcams by now?

I assumed all of these delivery trucks, especially for larger companies like FedEx, would have a couple cameras by now. It's not uncommon to hear about them getting robbed nowadays, and that will most likely only become a more and more frequent occurrence.

Also, why the hell would these guys call the FedEx dispatch to report a suspicious person?

If they truly believed he was a suspicious person up to no good, then wouldn't their first call be to the Police?

"Flight, equals guilt"?..

What gives anyone "The Right"? (Including "government")? To "shoot" at you?
Do you trust "your" neighbor to protect you and yours?..Do you even know your neighbor?.. Does the "government agent"/"cop", know you or your neighbor? Or your neighbor?... I will bet not!... You, your "neighbor", and the "agent/cop", are "foreign" to eachother, and you! By design.

There is no "duty", or "to protect" involved.
When you work for "government". Your job and "dental plan", is to protect "government".

FedX driver should've, put Hertz truck in park, put his hands on his head and explained his being there... I'm sure if the FedX driver used more "Deplomatic language". This could've been avoided.

I can only "judge" by experience, and What I would do, unarmed. ...Being in "a jury of peers".

Life is a "combat zone". Like it or not!
That's what "politicians/lawyers" have made it...
You will understand, soon.

or I could argue the driver should have been armed and shot back? I would have. If I was driving like he did I would have stopped and been prepared.

He said he 'ducked his head behind the wheel' and escaped. I have strong Smollett feelings on this one.

So you're telling me if you're in a neighborhood in your vehicle and 2 guys, one armed, stand in front of you and tell you to stop, you're going to put your hands on the top of your head and stop? Why? These are not law enforcement of any type, you know they have a weapon and can mean you harm, but you stop?

My thoughts EXACTLY.

A well known pathological liar just told us a story.

Only a complete idiot would think they now know what really happened based on what the known serial liar just said.

Sooo, he shot up his own vehicle? Bullets were found inside. You do not believe the cops matched the weapon to the guys who were arrested? The 3 of them all look like they would be in cahoots? The kid didn't even get paid for the days he missed after the incident.

It only took until the 2nd page for the "he should have stopped", "what did the victim do to cause it" " its a hoax" brigade to show up.
