9000 Americans were abandoned in Afghanistan

If there was ever any action (or inaction) that deserved impeachment in my lifetime the Afghan withdraw is it.

Absolutely embarrassing to leave people and equipment behind, for an arbitrary deadline that had no requirements.

Everyone in office at the time involved with this should be fired and on trial.

What exactly is the American militaries job if its not to protect Americans?

Yes it's the job of the military/government to protect Americans. That's what American Embassies are for.

911 while an intruder has a gun to your face. Take that how you will.

I've lived overseas half of my life. I can tell you the number one advice given to us was to not get into trouble in the first place. Don't go to certain place. Certain places are NOT friendly to Americans.

I'm sure they realize some places are dangerous and that anywhere could potentially be, however, we went from a large part of a country being relatively safe to one airport over night.

That's exactly what happened. Biden imposed an arbitrary deadline that was way too soon (under Trump's plan, the pullout wouldn't have happened for another 6 - 8 months), and the only way to meet the deadline was leave everyone & everything behind.

It's a sad comment on our "generals" that they went along with this, instead of telling the Senile Old Fool that this was totally unacceptable.

Trump’s agreement with the Taliban, signed in 2020, was to have US troops out by May 31, 2021. He was even toying with the idea of ordering the troops out before he left office. In April, 2021, Biden postponed the pullout until August 31, 2021.

How many people are going to take contract work for the government if they government won't ensure their safety to at least a minimal degree? I'm not talking about safe zones on the ground. I'm talking about notifying them from one day to the next that the government in question is going to be maintaining at least nominal control of the area in which they are contracted to work.

Update: It appears that some notes have leaked from the White House situation room, and Lester Holt asked Biden about them.

The withdrawl was so badly organized that they'd barely even started by the time the deadline passed.

Holt brought up the leaked White House notes from the Situation Room meeting one day before Kabul fell obtained by Axios that revealed just how unprepared Joe Biden was for the Afghanistan withdrawal.

According to the notes, the Biden Regime was scrambling at the 11th hour and had just barely notified Afghan allies “to begin to register their interest in relocation to the United States” hours before the Taliban took over.

The Biden Regime was so unprepared that they were still determining which transit points to send evacuees to hours before the Taliban descended on Kabul.

Biden then had a dementia attack and couldn't remember which country they were talking about.

Seem to remember reading about contractors being told we got you, we won't leave you behind for them to wake up one day and the us military was gone.

Also remember seeing how the state department tried to prevent people from leaving on unapproved ngo flights, or refusing to allow people that had approved paperwork into the United States because someone else evacuated them.

Numerous stories of Americans being beaten up and not allowed through check points, our military's refusal to go get people, while a French swat team basically stole a truck told the Taliban to piss off and went and got people to safety ditto for the Brits.

Not only should we be hip deep in impeachment hearings the entire administration should be under investigation.
