Boy, ain't that the truth.
GM is going whole hog with electric.
Insanity, mixed with totally ignoring reality.

I know it. I almost cried when I heard Jeep is phasing out the SRT for an electric Jeep now.
Wft jeep?
Loyal customer lost here.

Ok homie times up, what you missed in your list is the fact you would need an electrical engineering aptitude out the roof, a deep understanding of computer machine and digital language, high mechanical aptitude to be able to work on your own car. Otherwise you have to go to a dealer that have their specialized people. Electric cars equal the death of a lot of shops and backyard oil changes. These cars are designed from the ground up to be tamper proof meaning that if you try to fix it yourself the car company will refuse you service etc

I'm the problem if I think the car is ugly? Hmmm....I think that those designers and officers of BMW have gotten delusional. I wouldn't want a car that has what looks like a set of kidneys for a grill. Seems like they screwed up with designing it and want everyone else that thinks it is ugly to believe they are screwed up.

I grew up in the fifties and sixties when they made nice looking cars. I like the rear fins, I used to own a fifty seven chevy, but I think the fins on some of their styles of this are weird as hell. Did they legalize pot there or something? Are they eating too many mushrooms or maybe grain that has that crazy fungus on it?

Lol, remember the episode of Seinfeld where Kramer had jerry’s Saab and it was on empty snx they wanted to see how far they could go.

They should re-create this scene in an electric car...

I’m a younger man in my mid 30’s, when I was a boy my dad had 2 chargers a 65 and a 68 we would work on together. When I got a bit older by 11 or 12 he bought a 1957 dodge coronet lancer not to be confused with a regular coronet with an inline 8 and 3 speed manual. That #er was a boat had all the fins you could want and a mean ass front end. We put it face down ass up on its stance rebuilt the transmission and engine etc. unfortunately we never got to cruise it, my mom divorced him and she got all the cars and the truck in the divorce and she sold all them really cheap.

Also with these cars connected as detailed with Tesla they can disable modes on your car, I tried to find the story.

A person sold his Tesla privately with ludicrous speed, and Tesla found out disabled this in his car as the said the new owner did not pay for thd privilege of having it.

That’s why I was saying to donttreadonme the biggest factor is…

To boil it down, it is more corporate control. I know some ding dong is going to come in here and say “Well hey brotherman if you knew anything you would know about the right to repair act…” I’ll tell you now is the government siding with us or are they siding with corporate entities because corporations are people too.

This forced movement is another bolt in the safe that contains freedom

In a way it’s a nasty thing to say about people, if a company thinks they are so superior, we’ll see ya later, go elsewhere.

I have heard that the Chinese market want big kidney grills to show off, and Bmw are catering to that market.

I’d be happy with a mud 80’s ford bronco. Great looking car.

Missed that totally.....thanks.

I also heard you'll need a new winter wardrobe as the heaters are very much inadequate.

Jesus, the outside looks like the inside of a bmw owner.

The electric vehicle push needs the brakes put on it until a realistic power source comes along.
I was soldering 18650s together at 12 years old in my rc cars just like Elon does today.
The power is awesome and the torque curve flat, but screw recharging a car. Not even realistic.

Wow..that commercial

"Are we scared of the unknown now?"

Lol..no bmw, I am well aware you and everyone else is pushing electric cars to limit travel.
Ugh..infuriating

A Lucid Air EV can travel over 500miles on a single charge.

A 2018 KIA Optima FE only goes 450 miles on a tank of regular gas.

So who's "limiting" travel?

I forgot to say, that the disablement is performed remotely. The car connects to your homes wifi, probably how Tesla do it.

I support right to repair, though it’s getting harder and harder to do.

On my wife’s fiat 500, j was changing the oil, instead on Gavin a normal plug for the sump plug, it was a 12mm Allen key hex!!

I have a good selection of tools though not one of those. Went to 3 different motor shops, and no one had one.

Found one a week later at a hardware shop.

Wasn’t easy to find due to supply chain issues. Though point being, who would have one at home normally.

Anything to minimise you working on what you own.

Had an issue on the same car, the thermostat housing has a plastic nipple connection that connects to the heater hose, if fractured.

Replacement cost of the housing was $180.

Went to the plumbing shop, matched up a bronze connector, to suit.

8 dollars, though 2 hours to do the job, problem solved.

Plus the bronze part will probably live longer than the car...lol.

Though where questions need to be asked, what are the conditions the cars are tested under, probably Death Valley in the United States, hot and dry, is where slog of manufactures do their testing.

Though take an electric to somewhere which has minus 60 degrees, and see how long thd battery lasts.

They don’t tell you this.

I found this snippet of Guy Martin comparing electric v diesel.

It was substantially cheaper should he have used a diesel vehicle for the same trip.

Guy had issues with out of order charging stations, unable to charge, of shows the reality of electric, as should you use electric, up are so dependent on charging stations which are few and far between, where these virtually a gas station on most corners.

Granted he used the super fast charge which cost more, though the end result is surprising

Yeah the heaters in them are equal (no kidding equal) to a Milwaukee fuel m12 heater

In the future the bronze nipple will be a 2000$ replacement fee to go back to plastic because the tekkie had to re evaluate everything because it’s not what they learned in skool.

Why haven't car designers figured out what driver's really want: Batmobiles. All years, all styles. I want to bring my Atomic Turbines to full power out of the grocery store parking lot and deploy my parachute at the school bus crossing.

Agreed, because it’s not by the book it is not acceptable.

Thd mechanic across the Road from my work charged 340 dollars to change the engine oil, and top up the radiator, brake and transmission oil for one of my female work colleagues. I said I would have done it for the cost of parts and a carton of beer.

I’m a bit of a bush mechanic, I don’t throw out nuts and bolts or anything that may have a use or re-purpose. I’m in for it.

Here is a modern take on your plans, this is pretty sweet.

If heavy nostalgia works in moves car makers should take advantage of it.
