And I'm pretty sure there are plenty of places around the globe that enjoy the illusory luxury of freedom and security without the need for more guns than people.

I'm also sure we don't wish to see guns in the hands of members of the public here in the UK in the numbers they are across the pond in the USA.

As to your 2nd Amendment being a last ditch protection against the rise of tyranny, maybe back then, but that just don't fly in this day of age.

As your beloved government forces would wipe the floor against any sort of armed militia.

Imagine trying to use Holocaust victims to justify guns, that's just sad and poor form.

I'm pretty sure those poor persecuted people climbed aboard those trains of there own conviction and ended up in camps, to be slaughtered like animals, because they were picked on, lied to, and forcibly cajoled, don't really think the odd gun would have mattered much in the ghetto considering the opposition of the time.

Did guns stop the persecution or enslavement of African Americans or free them from there chains, i think not.

So why assume they could have prevented Shoah aka The Holocaust?

The fact that you can't comprehend that Holocaust victims, or Gulag victims, would have appreciated more defense options, is on you entirely.

During the Holocaust there were several attempts by Jewish Ghetto internees to resist with anything they had on hand. You just don't want them to have any real armament to have resisted.

It would have been a lot harder for the USSR to round up countless innocent citizens in their purges if resistence was offered. But you don't like that do you. #Fascist.

I have to chuckle at these conversations. Those who own firearms are positive the gun-hating liberals will come for them. We also know everything on the internet is being monitored, so they now have a clear list of where to start grabbing.

The same with discussing 'alternative' tobacco, use of antidepressants, and psychotropic drugs. Laws have been proposed in some states prohibiting gun ownership by anyone who falls in the above category, along with anyone who has been accused- not convicted- of domestic violence, and felons. Those with any record of substance abuse, such as seeking rehab, or who have documented mental health issues.

It looks to me like when the shoe falls there will be a lot people falling under the 'confiscation' umbrella and the internet has done the heavy work for them.

It's not going to happen in the near future, but watch your state sneaking seemingly sensible gun legislation through. I give it 15-20 years it all comes crashing down.

We have almost 350 million people, but of course you don't understand basic ratios.

The vast majority of gun crime is done with illegal guns, and most is not done with any kind of "military hardware" nor "assault weapons."

It's largely not done by legal gun owners.

No, atrocities were not conducted by random gun owning citizens, they were conducted by powerful governments with a monopoly of force. In the case of Germany, they disarmed all of their intended victims (Jews, etc). In the case of the USSR and Maoist China, they also disarmed most people ahead of the purges and collectivization which killed millions. Can you please explain how citizen gun owners were responsible for these atrocities?
