There is book called the "power of now" by Eckhart Tolle that can help you overcome the negativities/sadness you are experiencing. In a nutshell, our mind operates past/future whilst our primal awareness only exists in Now. So its matter of shifting our focus from the mind to the Now. To disempower the mind from controlling our being.

Think you are doing well regardless, congrats.

Is sadness pain?
The question was the first to arise and Tim tells why it may be interpreted as pain.

Sadness is simply sadness.....but everyone has been told at an early age that happiness is good.....sadness is bad. So sadness is seen as wrong.

Watch the film 'Inside Out'.......

There's nothing wrong with sadness. Now can appear as sadness.
Now appears as whatever it appears as .....unconditionally.

Have you seen the film 'Inside Out'?
It's a great film....

Hi,

Interesting to hear about your self-driven journey, I only wish I had the same willpower as you appear to demonstrate. You say you have no idea what you want to do next in your life? May I suggest that you read the following thread, and perhaps give some thought to setting up the charitable foundation I discuss therein? It would be a wonderful legacy to offer to the world, and you'd be solving real world problems, with a higher spiritual purpose being part & parcel of the objectives. If you have leadership skills, then I can think of no better pursuit than that which I have envisioned for myself, if I'm ever in a position to fulfil the dream. If you can fulfil the dream, then all power to you, I would be happy to see anyone succeeding at what I have suggested.

I am a sensitive, and quickly jumped to end of post.

Respectfully...where now do you find yourself?

This "you" is still..you.

Honestly, I don’t know.

And I’d love to be able to answer that question but for some reason I can’t sense anything. It’s as though I shut the world off to me - aside from sensing/feeling an enormous amount of negativity.

After this & what others wrote I feel like saying some more:
Open consciousness means you will be confronted with all the suffering that is going on. That's just how it is our paradise is a cruel unforgiving place. There's nothing wrong with that. If it would be perfect there wouldn't be any reason why anybody should start any kind of spiritual journey. That's why you feel this urge of deed not creed.
Almost all our spiritual techniques like the now stuff or seek your own salvation and damned be the rest are basically avoidance. Something I think we can't afford anymore at this point. I mean sure you need to exercise how you can detach and control yourself, in case of emergency when things get overwhelming, but it's not the goal.

Because behind it, is the treasure awaiting your arrival. First you feel your little cosmos all the living things in and on your body, that's what you got covered judging from your OP.
Then there's the world. After that you'll start realising that the not-material is a zoo. In all of it you find a lot of terror and pain but also beauty and joy.
And occasionally pure bliss. Take it in, bottle it up and always keep some of it with you.
Because the bad will remind you why we have to work on our collective awakening. And the good will give you hope that it is possible to get there.

And also don't be fooled into believing anybody could teach you or has anything figured out at this point. It's not a copy and paste assignment. They maybe can show you some tools but don't get stuck on any of that.

That's just my opinion. No responsibility can be taken for this information.

Yes the NOW can "appear" as sadness. But in reality, the mind is projecting its past/future memories onto the NOW. Wanting the NOW to reflect "desires" from those memories. When we look into the mirror at our ageing body. Would we feel any sadness if it wern't for memories of youth. If we lost a loved one. Would we feel any sadness if it wern't for memories of that loved one. So sadness is derived from our memories. It is not seeing the world as it is but how we desire it to be. Its perfectly ok to observe sadness in ourselves but when we become one with the sadness we exist in those memories (a dream state). Not in the Now.

I will keep an eye out for the film, Thanks

I don't mean to butt in, but.

I love Inside Out actually, lol.

I know that sadness can actually be enjoyed, and it's weird because I've talked about this somewhat recently. I used to really feel the sadness and actually enjoy it somehow... like letting myself feel it felt good. Not indulging in it, but just like, full acceptance of it.

I think when I started to push it away, like he says in the video, to escape it, to deny it, that's when it becomes a different kind of painful, like the discomfort that this guy is talking about in the video. Denial brings a much deeper suffering, hellish, something is more "evil" about the pain in denial that it can't be enjoyed as easily.

Listening to Tim now, wow... the sadness is love, it comes from a place of love. And it does feel good in a way, like it's good to feel sad sometimes, it's natural, it's right. Imagine if we never felt sad when people or animals were mistreated and abused, or when people died... what would that mean?

Thanks for sharing.

I am so happy that you listened to Tim and saw in yourself what he was speaking about...I noticed it many years ago when my mum died.

When my mum died I was having huge waves of grief and the tears would flow even whilst I was working. I felt so much love when it occured because it was my mum. There was no way that I wanted to push that away....it was delightful......it definitely felt like love.

I have less patience than ever for arrogant people. Or those who are “holier than…” ...

A situation that may test our patience is when someone suggests that we said or did something wrong (a.k.a. rebuke, or depending on the manner it is done, reproof). All too often, we may be quick to take offense and justify ourselves. However, God’s Word recommends a different response. It states: “Better to be patient than to be haughty in spirit. Do not be quick to take offense, for the taking of offense lodges in the bosom of fools.” (Eccl. 7:8, 9) In the same chapter it also states: “Better to listen to a wise man’s rebuke than to listen to the song of fools.” (Eccl. 7:5)

In the Biblical sense of the word, patience is more than simply putting up with a trying situation. A person with godly patience endures with a purpose. He sees beyond his own needs and considers the welfare of the one causing a disagreeable situation. For this reason, when a patient person is wronged or provoked, he refuses to give up hope for improvement in the disturbed relationship. Little wonder, then, that the Bible lists being “patient” as the first of many fine qualities that stem from love. (1 Cor. 13:4) God’s Word also includes “patience” as an aspect of “the fruitage of the spirit.” (Gal. 5:22, 23)

1 Cor. 13:4-6:

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous. It does not brag, does not get puffed up, does not behave indecently, does not look for its own interests, does not become provoked. It does not keep account of the injury. It does not rejoice over unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth.

Galatians 5:22,23:

On the other hand, the fruitage of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Rebuke is related to reproof. Reproof is that which is designed to convince others of their having erred, in order to move them to acknowledge their mistakes and correct these. Unlike reproof, a rebuke may be a censure without any laying bare of fault by the presentation of evidence.

Although reproof can benefit those who receive it, the efforts of the reprover are not always appreciated. Thus Proverbs 9:7, 8 warns: “He that is correcting the ridiculer is taking to himself dishonor, and he that is giving a reproof to someone wicked—a defect in him. Do not reprove a ridiculer, that he may not hate you. Give a reproof to a wise person and he will love you.”

Proverbs 15:31:

The one who listens to life-giving reproof

Is at home among the wise.

Reproof is also closely related to discipline. Since the Scriptures are inspired of God, all reproof solidly based on them is really reproof from him. (2Tim 3:16) His reproof is an expression of love, not to be abhorred or rejected. (Pr 3:11, 12) Wise ones appreciate that “the reproofs of discipline are the way of life.”—Pr 6:23. Proverbs 19:20 admonishes: “Listen to counsel and accept discipline, in order to become wise in your future.”

The sinful human tendency is to resent reproof and the human servant through whom it may be given. But yielding to this tendency degrades one to the level of an unreasoning beast lacking moral discrimination; as the inspired proverb expresses it: “A hater of reproof is unreasoning.” (Pr 12:1) In contrast, the psalmist David, who was himself repeatedly reproved, wrote: “Should the righteous one strike me, it would be a loving-kindness; and should he reprove me, it would be oil upon the head, which my head would not want to refuse.”—Ps 141:5.

As indicated at the start of this comment, haughtiness of spirit (an arrogant attitude) can lead to the rejection of reproof or rebuke from the Scriptures (from God, the wisest person in the universe) and can lead to viewing the human servant through whom it may be given as having an 'holier than thou' attitude. When their motive for pointing something out to you may be solely based on love, caring for your mental and spiritual well-being. So patience is indeed a virtue, as the Bible teaches. So we can avoid being quick to take offense and justify ourselves, and even when the rebuke or reproof is uncalled for (or feels that way), still have peace of mind, loving our fellow man and keeping in mind or understanding that we all have our flaws, no human is perfect, for “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Rom. 3:23) So forgiveness is key to a loving attitude (when repeatedly offended or feeling offended for example, which can lead to impatience with our fellow man, not putting up with one another*, and even feelings of superiority, disdain and hatred for those perceived as arrogant or having a 'holier than thou' attitude, becoming arrogant/haughty ourselves in the process):

*: “Continue putting up with one another and forgiving one another freely even if anyone has a cause for complaint against another.”—COLOSSIANS 3:13.

“For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the wholesome* [Or “healthful; beneficial.”] teaching, but according to their own desires, they will surround themselves with teachers to have their ears tickled.* [Or “to tell them what they want to hear.”] They will turn away from listening to the truth and give attention to false stories.” (2 Timothy 4:3,4)

“So we should no longer be children, tossed about as by waves and carried here and there by every wind of teaching by means of the trickery of men, by means of cunning in deceptive schemes.” (Ephesians 4:14)

In contrast to loving reproof and rebuke, stands flattery, which may tickle our ears (may be pleasing to the ears) as "the song of fools" (Eccl. 7:5, see beginning of this comment), but is usually done to gratify the self-love or vanity of the one flattered and is therefore damaging to him. It is the main modus operandi of the gurus (teachers) of eastern mysticism (and other religions), telling their listeners how enlightened and open-minded they are for accepting their teachings (see 2 Timothy 4:3,4 again). While in reality, they are often quite closed-minded and unenlightened regarding the beneficial teachings and truth from the Bible, from God. And often reluctant to apply them or take them to heart, especially when doing so goes against their desires. Remember the phrase "according to their own desires" at 2 Tim. 4:3,4?

Flattery (Insight on the Scriptures)

The act of pleasing by artful commendation; adulation; false, insincere, or excessive praise. It is usually done to gratify the self-love or vanity of the one flattered and is therefore damaging to him. Its motive is to gain favor or material benefits from another, to create a feeling of obligation toward the flatterer or to bring glory to him. Often it is designed to lead the other person into a trap. (Pr 29:5) The use of flattery is not evidence of the wisdom from above; it is of this world, being characterized by selfishness, the making of partial distinctions, and hypocrisy. (Jas 3:17) Insincerity, lying, adulating or glorifying men, and playing on the vanity of others are all displeasing to God.—2Co 1:12; Ga 1:10; Eph 4:25; Col 3:9; Re 21:8.

...

While the use of flattery may appear to be the gainful course, the Bible points out that “he that is reproving a man will afterward find more favor than he will that is flattering with his tongue.” (Pr 28:23) When a person employs flattery to gain advantage over another person, it is the opposite of love. A hater may resort to flattery but will eventually have his deceptiveness roll back on him like a stone.—Pr 26:24-28.

Flattery employs smooth talk in order to beguile its victim. The expressions “flattery,” “smooth tongue (lip, or words)” (Ps 5:9; 12:2, 3; Da 11:32), “smoothness” (Pr 7:21; Da 11:34, ftn), and “double-faced” (Eze 12:24, ftn) are translations of the Hebrew root word cha·laqʹ or related words. In every Bible instance cited, the motive of the smooth talker is bad.

...

The Manipulation of Information (Awake!—2000)

Some propagandists play on pride. Often we can spot appeals to pride by looking for such key phrases as: “Any intelligent person knows that . . .” or, “A person with your education can’t help but see that . . .” A reverse appeal to pride plays on our fear of seeming stupid. Professionals in persuasion are well aware of that.

...

To help with avoiding the trap described in the bolded part (which relates to pride), here's some more beneficial advice (teaching) from God's word, the Bible (note especially the bolded part):

Pride. In the form of inordinate self-esteem or haughtiness, pride can make a person more susceptible to prejudice. For example, pride can cause a person to be prone to feelings of superiority or disdain toward the less educated or the materially poor. [whereislogic: or those of a different religious orientation] It may also make him inclined to believe propaganda that elevates his national or ethnic group. [whereislogic: again, or their religious orientation or background, such as eastern mysticism, Buddhist, Hindu or New Age philosophy rather than biblical] Clever propagandists, such as Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler, have deliberately nurtured national and racial pride to rally the support of the masses and to malign those considered to be different or undesirable.

What does the Bible say? “Everyone that is proud in heart is something detestable to Jehovah.” (Proverbs 16:5) “[Do] nothing out of contentiousness or out of egotism, but with lowliness of mind [consider] that the others are superior to you.” (Philippians 2:3) Ask yourself: ‘Do I take secret delight in flattering comments about my own race or ethnic group or in disparaging remarks about others? [whereislogic: again, you can add religious orientation to that sentence.] Am I inclined to be jealous of those who have talents that I lack, or do I take genuine delight in their abilities?’

Yes, for good reason the Bible cautions: “More than all else that is to be guarded, safeguard your heart, for out of it are the sources of life.” (Proverbs 4:23) So view your heart as truly precious, and let nothing corrupt it! Instead, fill it with godly wisdom. Then, and only then, will ‘thinking ability and discernment safeguard you, to deliver you from the bad way, from the person speaking perverse things.’—Proverbs 2:10-12.

Do Not Think More of Yourself than Is Necessary

“I TELL everyone there among you not to think more of himself than it is necessary to think; but to think so as to have a sound mind.”—Rom. 12:3.

Throughout God’s Word, the Christian is admonished to acquire and maintain a balanced perspective of himself. While it is necessary for the Christian to think of himself sufficiently to take care of his mind and body and use them in the right way, it is vital for him not to go beyond that. He is not to think more of himself than is necessary.

If a person thinks too much of himself, he will be in danger of becoming conceited, proud, unloving. He will be too interested in his own desires and will not be concerned enough about others. Then he will find it difficult to obey the divine command to “love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind” and to “love your neighbor as yourself.”—Matt. 22:37-39.

CULTIVATING RIGHT QUALITIES

Among the many qualities that help the Christian not to think more of himself than is necessary are submissiveness and humility. The submissive Christian is always learning from God’s Word and applying what he learns to his own life. ...

... Being humble is the opposite of being proud. A humble person does not have an inflated opinion of himself. He is not overly assertive in manner or spirit. He is moderate, not presuming too much, not being vain or conceited. He is kind, mild-tempered.

Thus, the person who has the right viewpoint of himself, God’s viewpoint, will cultivate humility, for that is the quality that makes submissiveness to Jehovah and his arrangements a pleasure. It is the proud, arrogant person who does not want to submit to Jehovah’s righteous requirements. But “everyone that is proud in heart is something detestable to Jehovah.”—Prov. 16:5.

Since humility and submissiveness go hand in hand toward maintaining the balanced perspective of not thinking more of oneself than is necessary, they are qualities to strive diligently to acquire and improve. ...

I find so called 'New Age' philosophy books such as 'The Power Of Now' by Eckhart Tolle to be insightful and helpful, and I can see no harm in them, nor do I think they can be equated to religion. CMV.

Source: Reddit (changemyview)

What Is the New Age Movement? (Awake!—1994)

IT IS not an organization, yet hundreds of organizations promote its teachings. It has no central leadership, yet its philosophers and masters probably number in the thousands. It does not have an official book of dogmas and beliefs, yet adherents can nurture their creed in virtually every public library throughout the world. It has no personal god to be worshiped, yet it often promotes the idea of a god that can be found everywhere and anywhere.

What is it? It is the New Age movement: a loose mix of religious, cultural, social, political, and scientific ideologies, combined with fascination for Eastern mysticism, the paranormal, the occult, and even some strains of modern psychology. The mix includes belief in astrology, reincarnation, extraterrestrial life, evolution, and life after death. Environmental and health concerns are also important ingredients.

...

What Is New About It?

The New Age movement is considered by many to be a modern phenomenon. ...

... Their mixture of beliefs has received wide acceptance and respect. The media rapidly caught on, resulting in widespread awareness of New Age philosophy.

Actually, there is very little that is new about New Age beliefs. For example, its philosophy is based primarily on Eastern mysticism, which is thousands of years old. Consider just a few New Age ideas.

The New Age Hope

...

A Religion of Self

In her autobiographical film Out on a Limb, famous actress and New Age author Shirley MacLaine stands on a windswept beach with her arms outstretched and exclaims: “I am God! I am God!” Like her, many New Agers promote the search for a higher self and the idea of a god within. They teach that humans need only raise their consciousness to find their divinity.

Once this is accomplished, they claim, the reality of a universal interconnectedness becomes clear—everything is god, and god is everything. This is by no means a new idea. Ancient religions of Mesopotamia and Egypt believed in the deity of animals, water, the wind, and the sky. More recently, Adolf Hitler allegedly encouraged others to embrace the “strong, heroic belief in God in Nature, God in our own people, in our destiny, in our blood.”

New Age culture is saturated with literature, seminars, and training programs dealing with self-potential and self-improvement. “Getting in touch with my inner self” is a popular logo. People are encouraged to try anything and everything that can help them unleash their own possibilities. As one writer put it in the magazine Wilson Quarterly, the “movement’s central teaching is ‘that it doesn’t matter what you believe as long as it works for you.’”

Margot Adler, a New Age guru, explains that many of the women who join women’s New Age movements do it “for reasons that are very personal. . . . They hate their bodies, they hate themselves. They come into these groups which basically say to you, ‘You’re the Goddess, you’re wonderful.’”

Note the flattery used there, in light of my previous commentary.

...

Sanitized Occultism

Some New Age concepts promote a new, sanitized view of the occult. Satanism is no longer associated with the occult in the minds of many New Agers. A writer in the magazine Free Inquiry states: “There are a growing number of practitioners of witchcraft, none of whom have any beliefs that embrace Satanism.”

A recent survey in Germany showed that there were 10,000 active witches in that country. Even children are being subtly attracted to the occult. The German book Der Griff nach unseren Kindern (The Grasp for Our Children) explains that through “children’s drama cassettes, children are getting accustomed to the new image of the witch as a normal woman who uses magic for good purposes.” The book adds: “The attention of even small children is thus attracted to a New Age way that can lead them to the supernatural.”

In her books, Shirley MacLaine promotes the idea that the occult is merely hidden knowledge and that its being hidden does not mean that it is not truth. This philosophy has lured countless people into experimenting with exotic spiritistic practices, such as divination, astrology, telepathy, and communication with the spirits. The latter has been known for thousands of years as spiritistic mediumship. But New Agers call it channeling. Their theory claims that the spirits of the dead select certain individuals to be their channels of communication with mankind.

These supposed human channelers can go into a trance at will and speak or write messages of “enlightenment,” purportedly from the dead or from extraterrestrial beings. Spirits of the dead are regarded as master sages awaiting the right time to reincarnate. In the meantime, they are allegedly guiding mankind into a new age.

Many New Agers meet regularly to listen to what these supposed masters have to say through their channelers. And believers have a choice of spirits to consult. Among those supposedly speaking today are the spirits of John Lennon and Elvis Presley, extraterrestrials with names like Attarro and Rakorczy, and a 35,000-year-old warrior from mythical Atlantis named Ramtha.

...

Philosophy (Reasoning From the Scriptures)

...
What is the origin of human philosophies?

They come from people who have limitations: ...

They are developed by humans who are imperfect: ...

They are influenced by demonic spirits: “The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.” (1 John 5:19) “The one called Devil and Satan . . . is misleading the entire inhabited earth.” (Rev. 12:9) “You at one time walked according to the system of things of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, the spirit that now operates in the sons of disobedience.” (Eph. 2:2) (Philosophies that encourage people to disobey God’s wholesome and upright requirements reflect such an influence. No wonder that, as history testifies, human philosophies and schemes have often brought grief to large segments of humankind.)

Deuteronomy 18:9-14:

“When you have entered into the land that Jehovah your God is giving you, you must not learn to imitate the detestable practices of those nations. 10 There should not be found in you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, anyone who employs divination, anyone practicing magic, anyone who looks for omens, a sorcerer, 11 anyone binding others with a spell, anyone who consults a spirit medium or a fortune-teller, or anyone who inquires of the dead. 12 For whoever does these things is detestable to Jehovah, and on account of these detestable practices Jehovah your God is driving them away from before you. 13 You should prove yourself blameless before Jehovah your God.
14 “For these nations that you are dispossessing used to listen to those practicing magic and divination, but Jehovah your God has not allowed you to do anything like this.

Why is it an evidence of clear thinking to study the teachings of Jesus Christ instead of human philosophy?

Col. 1:15-17: “He [Jesus Christ] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; because by means of him all other things were created in the heavens and upon the earth . . . All other things have been created through him and for him. Also, he is before all other things and by means of him all other things were made to exist.” (His intimate relationship with God enables him to help us to learn the truth about God. Furthermore, as the one through whom all other things were made, Jesus has a full knowledge of the entire created universe. No human philosopher can offer any of this.)

...

Col. 2:8: “Look out: perhaps there may be someone who will carry you off as his prey through the philosophy and empty deception according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary things of the world and not according to Christ.” (What a sad mistake it would be to choose such deceptive human philosophy in preference to acquiring true wisdom as a disciple of Jesus Christ, the second-greatest person in the universe, next to God himself!)

How does God view the “wisdom” offered by human philosophy?

1 Cor. 1:19-25: “It is written: ‘I will make the wisdom of the wise men perish, and the intelligence of the intellectual men I will shove aside.’ Where is the wise man? Where the scribe? Where the debater of this system of things? Did not God make the wisdom of the world foolish? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom did not get to know God, God saw good through the foolishness [as it appears to the world] of what is preached to save those believing. . . . Because a foolish thing of God [as the world views it] is wiser than men, and a weak thing of God [as the world may see it] is stronger than men.” (Such a viewpoint on God’s part is certainly not arbitrary or unreasonable. He has provided in the Bible, the most widely circulated book in the world, a clear statement of his purpose. He has sent his witnesses to discuss it with all who will listen. How foolish for any creature to think that he has wisdom greater than that of God!)
Knowledge (gnoʹsis) is put in a very favorable light in the Christian Greek Scriptures. However, not all that men may call “knowledge” is to be sought, because philosophies and views exist that are “falsely called ‘knowledge.’” (1Ti 6:20) The recommended knowledge is about God and his purposes. (2Pe 1:5) Thus Paul wrote about some who were always learning (taking in knowledge) “yet never able to come to an accurate knowledge of truth.” (2Ti 3:6, 7) “Look! They have rejected the word of Jehovah, and what wisdom do they have?” (Jeremiah 8:9)

Forgive my ignorance, and I mean no offense in asking but I have always wondered, if Jehovah gave rise to ALL of Creation, why wasn't his Word given to ALL peoples beforehand, and why was it neccessary for the Jewish People to bring His Word?

Would it not have already been known by his prior Creations?

I fail to grasp how only One People is God's Chosen, when he created ALL THINGS, ALL CREATION, ALL PEOPLES.

And why only ONE MYTHOLOGY as to Divine Truth is acceptable.

Truth is revealed all over the place, one must be discerning, but it is there, even in the writings and myths of other Peoples.

Why is only ONE TRUTH (The Torah, Bible) acceptable now?

Or is this teaching only for His Chosen People?

What happens to the rest of us?

Does this ALL LOVING ALL MERCIFUL CREATOR condemn everyone else to dust and fire because we don't follow Jewish Tradition? Why would he forsake the rest of His Creation doing and believing exactly as he DESIGNED them to do and believe?

Explain to me like I'm five why I should stop seeking truth and beauty in all cultural traditions and the value of cultural differences that embrace the same value systems as the Torah and New Testament, just with different names and words.

Explain to me like I'm five.

I'm being earnest here.

It involves the actions of several men of faith who unlike Adam and Eve, chose to remain obedient and faithful to Jehovah. Such as Noah and Abraham. To go through all of them and how God dealt with these men would be a rather lengthy discussion. But since Abraham was a key figure in Jehovah's choosing of Israel as his chosen nation, involving a promise that God made to Abraham (a covenant), you may want to find out why...

Jehovah Called Him “My Friend”

“You, O Israel, are my servant, you, O Jacob, whom I have chosen, the offspring of Abraham my friend.”—ISAIAH 41:8.

...

... Abraham’s close friendship with God was based on faith, and he is known as “the father of all those having faith.” (Romans 4:11) ...

HOW DID ABRAHAM BECOME JEHOVAH’S FRIEND?

...

Similarly, of Noah the Bible says...

He “Walked With the True God”

... What did that mean? Not that God walked on earth, nor that Noah somehow went to heaven. Rather, Noah obeyed his God so closely and loved him so dearly that it was as if he and Jehovah walked together as friends. ...

A Faultless Man in a Twisted World

Noah grew up in a world that was rapidly going from bad to worse. It had been bad in the days of his great-grandfather Enoch, another righteous man who walked with God. Enoch had foretold that a day of judgment was coming upon the ungodly people of the world. Now, in Noah’s day, ungodliness was far worse. In fact, from Jehovah’s viewpoint, the earth was ruined, for it was filled with violence. (Gen. 5:22; 6:11; Jude 14, 15) What had happened to make things so much worse?

A terrible tragedy had unfolded among God’s spirit sons, the angels. One of them had already rebelled against Jehovah, becoming Satan the Devil by slandering God and luring Adam and Eve into sin. In Noah’s day, other angels began to revolt against Jehovah’s just rule. Forsaking their God-given station in heaven, they came to earth, assumed human form, and took beautiful women as their wives. Those proud, selfish rebel angels were a poisonous influence among humans.—Gen. 6:1, 2; Jude 6, 7.

Further, the unnatural unions between materialized angels and human women produced hybrid sons of extraordinary size and strength. The Bible calls them Nephilim, which literally means “Fellers”—those who cause others to fall. Vicious bullies, the Nephilim intensified the world’s brutal, ungodly spirit. Little wonder that in the view of the Creator, “the badness of man was abundant in the earth and every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only bad all the time.” Jehovah determined that he would wipe out that wicked society in 120 years.—Read Genesis 6:3-5.

...

I'm not sure if this is the thread for that kind of discussion though. So sorry if my initial answer seems a bit short. There's quite a bit of background regarding God's dealings with mankind and Abraham in particular in regards to your question about God's Word. I will probably not be able to answer it satisfactorily to you without you knowing this background, or knowing why this information can be trusted to be reliable and accurate and is not mythology as you feel now. In that light, this documentary may be of more use to you:

the bible-accurate history reliable prophecy part 1 of 3

But think about this, if you were God and you had a message for mankind, would you choose those who are your friends and are loyal to you, who believe that you created mankind and were appreciative of that fact, or those who follow the teachings of Satan who claimed that you were withholding valuable information and were dishonest (Gen 3:4,5), not worthy of worship or praise, those who therefore chose to worship other gods and coming under the influence of Satan*, to relay that message? (*: think about the time of Noah and what was mentioned in that article concerning the behaviour of mankind at that time, not exactly the type of people one would want to choose as one's representatives and to honestly and accurately relay that message; the situation was the same in Moses' time, Moses after all being the one who wrote the first 5 books of the Bible)

Of course, I understand that you find it hard to believe any of this actually happened, or that Satan even exists (as a person), but in that scenario, wouldn't it make sense to do it the way I believe Jehovah God did it? Mind you, my belief in the reliability and accuracy/truthfulness of the Bible is not based on blind faith, it comes from an evaluation of the evidence at hand, some of which is presented in the earlier linked documentary. It is also reflected in (or by) the divine wisdom that can be found in the Bible and its teachings and instructions to mankind ("the wisdom from above", as described in one of my earlier comments; also compare my earlier commentary concerning "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control", reproof, pride, haughtiness, flattery, 2 Timothy 4:3,4 and the tickling of ears according to one's desires, and the cultivating of the right qualities, the wisdom of God is reflected in the instructions and warnings in the Bible concerning these subjects*). That is why some people were moved to make this song (included in the playlist above):

I agree with much you write whereislogic. New age is a selection of old age teachings without full comprehension of the dangers involved in some of those practices. Trying to force open chakra's for example has certainly backfired on a lot of people. However religion too has its share of problems. It is sold as the truth, rather than a signpost, to the absolute truth....

- His greatness no one can fathom! (Ps. 145:3)
- His understanding no one can fathom. (Isa. 40:28)

Do you think Jesus and Paul would agree with todays religious gatekeepers. Or would Jesus upturn the tables and say "My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves."

Focus your mind on "My house shall be called the house of prayer" and think about that. Eckhart Tolle is merely teaching people that cannot see beyond the screens of their mobiles phones. How to exist in the magnificent reality that God has bequeathed us. Not on the past (Luke 9.62) of mind, nor the tomorrow of revelation (Matthew 6.34), but the NOW. Perhaps that is the only place where God listens to our prayers. In the silence of mind...

“Be still and know that I am God” Psalm 46:10

It is not that God listens to our prayers now.......

Peace is here now.......and that peace is what is prayed for.
There's no peace in thoughts about yesterday or tomorrow..

The abrahamic definition of God is "I AM THAT I AM" (Exodus 3:14). Not a label of substance but that of pure awareness. So I would argue that God is nearer to you than yourself in the NOW. A communion with God that is stronger than words.

Nothing can escape now.......

There is no separation.......

What is happening is alone.......the one life, the only way.

Our two natures is also a duality, Itisnowagain. If we empower one over the other we exist in imbalance. Consider that time itself is conciousness. That the Now is non-conciousness or pure awareness. We need use conciousness to undertake certain tasks in this world. But also need to rest conciousness when those task are complete. Rather than continually existing in conciousness. Dreaming 100% of our life away.
