The lens of the site has shifted a lot more to two party politics and mainstream talking points.

Back in the day I felt there was more of a search for obscurity and viewing things with a bit more of an open mind even if the search ended in disagreement. There was more of an overall sense of skeptisim for any and all authority. Now so long as the authority is part of someone's team, there is no questioning of it. Damn shame if you ask me.

This became VERY apparent to me when ATS springer posted his contradictory statement in regards to why wikileaks links are banned on ATS.

Again, there is NOTHING that separates ATS from Facebook except a few extra functions that facebook has and ATS doesn't. Fortunately for ATS, they better count their stars for the "deplorable" few that found this website in the HOPES of free speech, free press and reporting.

Extremely valid.

And this is why I stopped posting actively on ATS 10 years ago and would only come around as a random. Personally, I won't engage in the political debate TOO often because I'm not going to convince anyone who is steadfast in their feelings or beliefs, so I personally don't see a point.

But 10+ years ago to this day, ATS was a community of people that couldn't speak ill on eachother even if we fundamentally disagreed.

ETA: Lets not forget, ATS was started PREDOMINATELY as an alien community forum and David Icke used to be ATS's mascot. I didn't forget....That vulgar red/black/white graphical web format, lol. The gray/blue is lighter on the eyes.

Well yes. I came to ATS when it was still from the original owner and hosted in the UK. Then it got bought up and hosted in the U.S. Then the "ghostery" extension came out and we all saw that ATS servers where hosted in Langley.

Threads about it got closed and deleted and now they changed their location.

It's possible, but I dont see the idea of it being a "honey pot". ATS seems more of a crowd sourced platform rather than a select few posting things to lure us here. I.E. "hey look at this aircraft i got a picture of" verses the same 5 people "look at these photos that no normal person could possibly get.

Either way, with places like 33 Thomas street in existance, nothing should be considered "safe". Just varying levels of if the powers that be care enough about what we post. Like are we sniffing too close? probably not.

I have been coming to ATS for over a decade and only recently made an account. But I 100% agree with this. I was drawn to ATS for the aircraft, UFO, and regular consipriacy stuff. But in the past two years its mostly partisan politics and the same covid stuff over and over, with clickbait headlines. "BOMBSHELL: CDC wont answer!" no, it's not a bombshell, they just dont have that data collated and will get it out when they have it. It just gets framed to support a political side. Lets get back to wierd sightings, bigfoot and other stuff!
