Since the 90s, the NSA has referred to the WWW as the World Wide Wiretap.

They don't need to focus on websites like this as it's included in overall surveillance and personal profiles. I suppose it could trigger some additional scrutiny like anything else, but honestly the targets of value aren't screwing around on ATS.

I don’t know but I doubt they even monitor here.

FB is their go to I bet. The amount of pii that’s freely handed out on FB and other social platforms is astonishing.

Either these platforms are dumbing down society, or society has been that dumbed down that social media just shows it better.

Well it's not untrue. A lot of us are excentric and unashamedly talk about bizarre stuff. That's kind of what makes this place so great.
You don't go to the edges of mainstream and beyond for no reason though. It's how creativity works. One has to let the brain know where these edges are.
Alas even as a massive fan and contributor of bizarre threads, it sometimes hurts. Metaphorically.

It's all part of the process. And in regards to the OP: I would bet in the face of the things the intelligence community thinks and 'theorises' we're all in all pretty tame.

This site is monitored by the alphabet agencies and the military. For many reasons other than just violent rhetoric. For one, they learn things that are not in the news for days to come, or ever, but are still true and concerning.

Intelligence students are trained on sites like these. This I know for a fact (don't ask me how I know, but I do). It is a sort of Tombstone testing ground for training. To see who will shoot it out and who won't, and to see who they can deflect from engaging in the corral and who they can't deflect from truth they don't want known or rationally discussed.

The military and alphabet agencies ARE monitoring ATS and sites like it. Get a grip. You know it is true. Anyone without my life experience on ATS should know it. Growing up in a military officers home and having a military officer spouse, well I know more than I should, enough to be careful about saying how I know stuff or to even say some stuff. I don't want to end up like Tombstone at the OK corral.

What happened to your ever present quips and humor? Lost it when it comes to the truth?

knows who we are,what we post and how to track us down.
Sometimes we do forget that EVERYTHING we post online
stays there for ever.All I have to do is click my user name

Remember that Facebook was started as LifeLog to gather intel and then someone figured out that it had to look like it wasn't developed by DARPA. They contrived an unbelievable story that Zuckerberg just whipped up the software in his spare time. They started it slow and then added more and more as time went on so it looked like continual development. Lately, they needed to control the narrative and now it does double duty as intel and narrative. Maybe even triple duty as the intel feedback shows the effectiveness of narrative control.
As to using ATS as a training site for intel weenies, I can believe that many sites are used as such. ATS is not a wide open site so it's probably for the rookies in basic classes. As the intel weenie students advance, they eventually graduate to the dark web and spying on their fellow intel weenies.
If I was running things, I would have them anonymously work against each other on sites they were required to be on and see who could discover who was posting as a test of their skills.

Of course intelligent agencies survey sites like these, the wouldn't be very intelligent if they did not. You must play their game "smoke and mirrors", never let them think they know you, be contradictory.

We haven't had a big "you heard it here first" in a long time.

We're like an aggregate here. Sometimes we pick up on certain things before the mainstream, but we've typically seen it somewhere else first.

In terms of keeping an eye on actors or participants, I imagine dollar for hour the chans would be far more efficient to watch over.

Our content here isn't even edgy or fringe anymore. We may focus on more obscure topics, but most are still talking points in the broader mainstream discussion.
