I think you underestimate the willingness of the masses to employ cognitive dissonance as a first line of defense once the comfort zones gets breached.

We've seen it happen these last two years.

As usual with these things, you need to read behind the editor's spin on the story.

What NASA does is contribute towards things that have a connection to it's main focus - space research. What academics do is try and sequeeze money out of people to fund their studies. That's what has happened here. Here's part of a news article that was updated on the basis of a statement by NASA

thehill.com...

NASA’s Astrobiology program provided partial funding through a grant to the CTI in 2015, with the agency-funded portion of the project concluding in 2017, a NASA spokesperson confirmed to Changing America. NASA was not directly involved in the selection of researchers for the study.

So no, NASA didn't hire anyone. A guy was writing a book, NASA was one of the groups that said "Sure, why not".

Optics is the right answer for me too.

First they broke the news via msm, during a plandemic. People barely reacted because real life was confusing enough.

Psychologically speaking you would want to tell your dad you broke a window after he received a divorce letter through moms attorney.

He can give it some attention but his attention is already elsewhere.

Remember how the democrats mysteriously complained how Trumps presidency put them 4 years behind schedule?

Looking at how Biden and the elite carries on it is hardly because of climate change.

I believe they are expecting something big is going to happen and they need to ease us into that eventuality with a mixture of lies and some soft truths.

I know this sounds crazy, and I don't believe it myself, but if Nibiru somehow exists and does visit from time to time over thousands or millions of years it would actually tie up a lot of loose ends.

We could track it with the Webb telescope.

We've been told ufos exist and the government does not believe they are terrestrial.

We all might die because climate change upheaval.

We've proven the economy can carry on even while most of us stayed at home...

We've proven that some of us are still trusting authority too willingly that we'll inject anything into our bodies without questions and turn against our fellow man.

Digital news communications worldwide have shown how they can simply feed the people the vaccine narrative, credibility be damned.

Investigative journalism has died for the most part or has been successfully sidelined and finds refuge with opinion talk shows.

Billionaires are taking the first steps into outer space.

99% of people do not grow their own food.

Governments are openly giving their people the middle finger with strong arm tactics like we haven't seen since WW2.

The strongest country in the world are destroying themselves from the inside out.

This is definitely the moment you want to tell dad that you broke a window, with 24 pastors standing behind you for backup.

They have used shock tactics to create a split personality within society itself.

We won't own anything and we will have no privacy.

Facebook wants to sell you a fake reality in exchange for this one.

It's all happening at once after decades of softly conditioning us through movies, scientists speculation, religion pondering the possibility of first contact etc.

Something big this way comes.

Completely agree about the strategic use of distractions by governments.

Regarding climate change, I get the feeling our biggest threat in that context is the infighting and political/social instability that will occur as a result of the present course, where global energy supplies are deliberately chocked off, and authoritarian policies are put in place "for 'your' benefit", e.g. tightening supply chains, cutting back on transportation via vehicles that aren't "green", trying to dictate how much meat one can consume, coercing people to live in urban areas, etc.

People are running around like headless chickens to "prevent climate change", but consider, the Earth is hit by a 1km space rock about every 600k years. Such an impact is right on the cusp of pumping enough debris into the atmosphere to cool the globe. So....I'm pretty sure restricting cow farts and obsessing over Co2 output is not going to help us cope with that event (for which we are due).

As far as the broken window goes, my brothers and I messed that up pretty badly. I hit the baseball through our window well before our parents were divorced, and my brother shattered a sliding glass door with our bb gun, also well before the divorce. On the plus side, our mom was still around at that point to assuage our dad's anger, so there was that.

Lol so nasa would be telling us at best they discovered microbes or single celled life forms. What would that have to do with ufos on earth? The odd logic tells me you’re more invested in the cultural phenomena about ufos than any reality.

Nobody bothers to deeply research these claims if it falls into and supports their belief. Excitable knee-jerk responses are expected. It exposes how well researched these claims are and how seriously they can be taken.

NASA must be in a state of panic with Jeff Bezos, Richard Branson, Elon Musk, their crews, and paid passengers traveling to the edge of space and beyond. This supposed great NASA coverup will be exposed when civilians see alien spacecraft entering and exiting Earth's atmosphere. Ridiculous.

Not to burst any bubbles, but this has been ongoing for some years.

astrobiology.nasa.gov...

Nevertheless, it is an interesting aspect. I mean, when would you include such a branch to the research?
My guess would be when you are getting close to the need of having some conclusions from said research to handle a specific situation.

The disclosure of life on level that is relevant and interesting to normal people of religious culture, will undoubtably be of great significance to everyone else entirely.
I wouldn't think of microbes etc.... that's for the science segment. Not the general public.

Why 24 Theologians... viewpoints is not the answer, because 72 viewpoints would symbolize the 'completeness' of the study

more likely the 24 different reports mesh up with the 24 hour Day/night cycle ... for 'some weird' reason Hugh knows

This makes sense. The church would have to take a stand on it to not look like fools.

They know the truth that these beings are fallen angels and perhaps something went south with their "agreements". Or they need someone who knows the "rituals".

Try revisiting the OP. The Navy has admitted to and shared evidence of what appears to be futuristic technology beyond our capabilities.

Can the existence of aliens really cause a bigger panic than what is already going on?

I feel that most people are already open to the idea and wouldn't really care. It's just the religious fundamentalists that might have trouble accepting that their holy book might not have the whole picture. I mean, couldn't an all powerful deity create life in more than one place?

I don't see the conflict or why a religious person would even care that they aren't the only life in the entire universe.

There is a conflict...because some religious fanatics are not willing to accept the premise that an ET alien race, is by far...superior to them; in almost every aspect of biological and/or technological capabilities.

Plus the fact most people won’t believe them until a ufo lands on their front driveway and come out waiving with tentacles. The Government has lost all credibility with a lot of people lately.

That is a good point, although one can argue that both were created equal, but one achieved more technologically by focusing on science & long term sustained peace & unity with the planet, instead of turning it into a warzone controlled by profiteers.

I just don't think there should be a conflict, but when you are so deeply invested in a world view I could see depression setting in. But with that said, we should not hide facts about reality from people just to preserve their egos.

But that isn't what this discussion is about.

This discussion is about NASA hiring theologians in order to better understand how disclosure will affect the majority of the world's people.

You have a very hard time viewing this topic with any modicum of objectivity and it shows.

It's just been one insult against the religious and faithful after the next. You've done nothing to defend your position or to even form a position based on the topic.

Edit:

It absolutely is asinine to have to argue through one strawman after another and wade through the religious bigotry on display here just to get through to the meat and potatoes.

The fact that you call what you're doing a debate is, itself, asinine.

This is a perfect “pearls/swine” moment. Clearly JAG is projecting and has no interest in having an actual discussion. His/her attitude is par for the course on this website with anything that involves Christianity.

Why? WHY WHY?
Why does NASA need theologians?
Why is it NASA’s responsibility to understand how disclosure will affect the world. That already tells me they know.
Is NASA part of the church? Is it their responsibility to make sure people don’t freak out?

The truth is NASA and the Church have both known for a long time. For whatever reason now too many people already know and they have to let the cat out of the bag fully.

Your self-assuredness is astounding and honestly leaves no room for debate, assuming one would even make an attempt at engaging the fanaticism on display in your anti-church rhetoric.

Just because you get giddy at the thought of your own thoughts does not mean they are true. You do not know why NASA hired these theologians. That’s an actual fact.

Time will tell; there could literally be hundreds, if not thousands of potential reasons for this. Your one offering is potentially true, but your disposition and sweeping generalizations are unacceptable and do not promote productive discussion.

Depends on the aliens.

Benevolent, no problem.
Manevolent, problem.

Most visitors are benign and just here for personal exploration and sightseeing and shopping.

I always hate it when they act like there's only one type of alien species out there.

Drives me up a flippin' wall.
