I love horror movies and still have never watched The Exorcist. Idk why but something inherit in my being says steer clear so I've always done so, I even overcame my fear of Child's Play I can watch the movie now, but still have a real fear of any and all dolls. Creepy f'ers they are.

No shows really scared me. Only a couple of cartoons. Fantastic Planet and the old Lion Witch and The Wardrobe from the 80''s. I hated Fantastic Planet. Still bothers me to this day.

I thought this thread was about TV shows?

It was actually a "that guy" trap. Tonight you're that guy.

Lol, everyone needs a "that guy" moment here and there.

It's been a pleasure.

As a kid I watched a movie in the 70's about cats eating an old woman, Might have been a trilogy or collection of stories in one film as I also remember something about a woman swimming in a pool and a sheet of glass came over the water and she drowned. Though that could have been a different movie too. Totally freaked me out. Can't find the name of it but it was harsh at the time. Probably seems just corny nowadays.

The only movie that scared me to that level as an adult was Donnie Darko.

Not so much a TV show but I hope you don't mind me mentioning. This used to scare the crap out of me as a kid if the tv was ever left on and I had fallen asleep before being startled

Once they put it on TV, it's technically a "show" that is on TV.

Indeed!

There wasn't cable when I was young...only broadcast TV. The "chauffeur" in this movie scared the crap outta me!!

And it's got Betty Davis and Burgess Meridith!!

The Witches , and the cartoon movie The Secret of NIMH.

The secret of NIMH : en.wikipedia.org...

The red eyes from the Rats gave me a bunch of nightmares , i would dream that the janitor who worked at the local gym we visited with school had red eyes like a demon , but would only show them when i was the only one around.

I should name those black eyed humans from the X-files as well

I'm pretty sure this was from one of the 'House' movies, but I can't remember which one.(I think there were 4 of them... at least)

He was in the middle of the basement stairs, one of the monsters was underneath the stairs, and reached through and grabbed his ankle. Our basement stairs were exactly the same.

That one specific image in my mind caused me to hurry (both up and down the stairs) for a few years.

The one movie that gave me nightmares as a kid was 'The Amityville Horror' (1979).

My aunt let me watch it one night I was staying with my cousins. Can't remember how old I was but young enough that my parents wouldn't have let me watch it. I told my aunt that they wouldn't care, and had let me watch other scary movies.

But the nightmares were of the part when the priest was upstairs, as he was going through blessing the house, and he gets trapped in a room full of BEES.

When I eventually watched the movie again, probably around 15-20 years later, I realized it wasn't bees. It was flies.

I'm not sure when the details changed in my mind, but the bees made it scarier in my dreams.

Terrorvision...seems stupid now, but it really got to me. Honorable mentions are The Thing and the scene in RoboCop with the acid.

The twilight zone episode with a woman that finds a mini spaceship in her attic was creepy to me as a kid.

These ones are revealing and warped.

Gremlins! to this day even a picture of a Gremlin gives me a feeling of unease. How much I hated furbies because they just looked like gizmo....

Later I only remeber Blair witch project as a movie that traumatised me...

All good, we made a little self help group to cope with the blair witch trauma, and set up a generato, beamer and canvas in the middle of the woods, and watched it again. That really helped....

When the Blair witch first released it was only showed in independent movie theaters.
I went to this theater in NYC to see it.
Small dingy theater went perfectly with the movie

You are the only other person I've ever known who also thinks the Lion the Witch and Wardrobe was scary for a little child.

It's always the first think I think of when someone asks what tv show or movie scared you as kid.

When I was older and learned it was Christian Allegory it all made sense why I found it so disturbing as a small child.

Dark Shadows was the TV show that creeped me out. Even the opening theme song was creepy.
