There is an art form of how to tell someone to do something to themselves without telling them to do something to themselves.

You may find that some are more artistic than others. The staff do notice. It is discussed. And sometimes there is just enough ambiguity for someone to get away with it.

And other times on very rare occasion…it was just that good that it has to stand.

All this valuable ATS history gleaned in 20 days!

Shut The Front Door.

That's impressive!

Assuming that 20 day claim is reality, what would that say about those long time members who seem so frustrated by the effectiveness of these simple tactics?

I always love beating on joe mama, an absolutely brilliant tool!

Ridiculing 'tough' 'protesters' with the SnackVan bit is also fun & extremely effective.

Much more effective than trying to pin some group down over specific actions, which are too easy for your opponent to spin out of.

Comes across as more intelligent, more polite, and definitely a lot more entertaining than raging about specific things the group actually did.

Those type of bits are not only immediately effective, with little likelihood of escalation from your opponent, while accurately (enough) portraying what is actually happening, they also tend to be remembered for a long time.

Rage posts have no such ability.

Ever.

Trying to help users that struggle to figure out the difference between similar posts that do or don't result in Mod action?

Or maybe just boredom.

To prove that the staff does indeed discuss things and rule by consensus rather than just one coming in, glancing around and trashing the thread as a solo act without considering the subtlety at hand…

But that is just my guess.

That brings up a good point I think.

There do seem to be very rare occasions where a Mod will start reading a thread from the most recent posts that shock them in some way, causing the Mod to quickly start deleting posts before 'getting' an earlier joke, or noticing that a single user had been especially offensive just before what initially looked like a free for all flamethrower session to the Mod.

Not any kind of complaint about Mods or Mod actions, we're all human, and this seems like something that any human would do.

This usually seems to occur (on the very rare occasion when it does) late at night in the U.S. when I'm guessing not many (maybe only 1) Mods appeared to be 'on duty'? Just a complete guess on this part though.

So why do I bring it up?

Being aware of the above, when I suspect that something like this may occur, I simply ensure that every single post I write will stand on it's own and not provide any reason to be included with the T&C violators all around me.

Sometimes my posts will still get deleted for drift, but I've never taken that to mean any kind of violation or punishment, just housekeeping.

Seems to work pretty well for me when I choose to continue strongly participating in threads that someone is attempting to derail, and I have to think that Mods would appreciate this little extra effort on the part of users, especially at 3 am.

Many times it just comes down to writing a complete sentence instead of dropping a shorter snarky quip.

Little things make a difference.

I doubt much, if anything.

I would guess they would likely find in the T&C where duplicate accounts might be some form of violation, but who knows?

I have not violated T&C with my user names, if that's what you are suggesting.

I ask a Mod to post ban my former account when creating a new one.

Mods will be remarkably helpful if you ask politely and your request fits within T&C.

That's always been my experience anyway.

I was thinking of asking if you were very bored, but you've just answered it.

Please try not to make the mods jobs too hard. I've always found them to be fair in their actions and they have a lot on their plate already.

Almost a creative way to call me a troll, but I've seen better. Suggest you keep working on it.

Why would I ever be banned?

I always try to operate within T&C.

Never banned.

Do you like music?

Jingle Troll

Jingle Troll

Trolling Every Day

Oh What Fun It Is To Troll

Especially On Christmas Day.

Just off the top of my head.

Add a trollish looking elf pic with Christmas background and you have a much more effective and memorable way to call someone a troll, and do it in a fun way that is much less likely to result in either escalation or Mod Action.

I hope to make it a little easier on Mods, and hopefully more fun.

When I'm bored at least.

Have you read the Cowboy's review of joe mama?

I respectfully suggest that everyone might be far better off just crossing the street to avoid joe mama.

It's just not wise to hire joe mama for anything.

And it's so hard to say no to joe mama.
