When we got done staring at the M653 as it came through Catlettsburg. We moved west to Wurtland, Kentucky just to see if we could catch anything
coming west out of the yard. Didn't have to wait long on anything to come out either. Coming off the passenger main and onto the Northern Subdivision.
CSXT 7022 leads loaded coal train C547 west through Wurtland, Kentucky maybe twenty minutes after we got there. If you notice the two old fire truck
in the background. Wurtland Fire's main station is right across the road from where we were standing.
Coming off the passenger main just ten minutes behind the C547. CSXT 740 brings empty grain train G624 west. Sad thing is that this train beat us down
here and we still wound up catching it. Go figure!
Since Russell, Kentucky was built by the railroad like most small towns in the United States. It's only fitting that they have something from the
railroad that literally built the Ohio, Kanawha, New, Greenbrier and the James River Valleys on display in the form of former Chesapeake & Ohio M930
Class caboose 3191 setting in downtown Russell, Kentucky.
After shooting the caboose on display at Russell and pondering what to do. We went back to Wurtland for one last shot on CSX. Coming in from the west
off the Northern Subdivision after originating in Lima, Ohio. CSXT 1-1-1 leads loaded anhydrous ammonia train B443 east through Wurtland, Kentucky.
After getting our final shot on CSX for the day before heading home. We hit up Norfolk Southern once again to end the day. Thundering towards a crew
change at Portsmouth, Ohio. NS 4246 leads UPS/Amazon hotshot 29C west to Calumet Yard in Chicago, Illinois.
This thing stuck out like Rudolph's big ass red nose when 29C popped around the curve. Canadian Pacific SD70ACU 7054 trailing 4th out on 29C.
I've done this shot a few times before but with the leaves starting to pop out on the trees. Seen just after making a crew change at Portsmouth, Ohio
and about eight hours after passing the cams at Fostoria. NS 9701 leads Charlotte, North Carolina bound UPS/Amazon hotshot 28N east along the Kenova,
District with a train stretched out over the town and the Ohio River.
Our last train of the day and the last one of this outing. Norfolk Southern AC44C6M rebuild 4414 leads loaded grain train 50Z east along the Kenova
District after crossing the Ohio River and soaring over the town of Kenova.
I honestly thought about uploading each video from both days separately but I chose not to do it that way. Now on to some other things that I have
caught recently here within the past month other than the major outing from the first of April.
Got wind a few days before heading down to Kenova and Russell the next weekend of a train heading my way thanks to a conductor friend of min. He just
so happened to looking at a line up of what was coming east to Hinton to see what he was called out on anything. He messaged me saying that I had an
eastbound grain train coming my way with something that I would want to catch. Bound for a crew change at Hinton, West Virginia. A lash up like this
was common up until just two or three years ago. CSXT 7771 and CSXT 7777 leads Portsmouth, Virginia bound grain train G62327 east along the Kanawha
Subdivision on March 27th, 2023.
On April 17th, I finally managed to bag the last of the "Honoring Our Heroes" locomotives to complete the trifecta along with CSXT 1776 and CSXT 911.
With 110 loads of Logan County's finest black gold in tow. CSXT 3194, "Spirit Of Our Law Enforcement," leads loaded coal train C11816 east through
town this evening bound for a crew change at Hinton, West Virginia Monday evening.
Now for the two I went out and caught yesterday because I wanted to get out and see what I could get.
Heading for a crew change and to split their train up at Russell, Kentucky. CSXT 4567 leads Princeton, Indiana bound E89512 west along the Kanawha
Subdivision in some sweet evening light.
Running through just after meeting E895 in Charleston about ten minutes beforehand. CSXT 4561 leads mixed freight L21114 east towards a crew change at
Hinton, West Virginia and their eventual destination of Clifton Forge, Virginia. Felt like going with black and white with this one since it was back
lit all to Hell.

a reply to: Night Star With new growth of the spirit the Shed turned into a sleek light of thunder! The dull colors of time
rested back. The rains from the cultured clouds awoke the visions from the past. A man yells out “hey it’s good to be back”.
You can see and feel the vastness of colors from around the bend of time. As he marches into the Shed time takes him away from his lost journey. He
praises the joys of time that he missed and honored all the trees from his past. As he cried inside of two lost worlds, his joy was once again found.
The Quantum was lost but his return drew many bright colors over this beautiful Shed he called home for many years!
We had a blast for the two days that we went down there. Most trains I had seen down there since the last time I was down there in 2019. I think we
counted around eleven or twelve that we saw on Saturday and eight or nine on Monday. I'll have to double check on Facebook because we saw the same
train twice on Monday. As for how my photos look in any way close to professional. I have no idea how that happens because I just use a little Nikon
point and shoot that I've had since 2016.
As for the weather, you bet it has been crazy. It has been crazy down here even by West Virginia standards. Snowshoe and a couple of other places in
the higher elevations got around 20 inches of snow around the first of this month! Still had a hint of winter left in Maw Nature well into spring. Now
they are saying that El Nino is about to get started which will make the weather even crazier. This summer is going to be even suckier than summer
last year.
a reply to: Night Star As I buckled from the weight of the world on my shoulders the kind gentle dreams of the Shed took over my
mind. The drifting back to the ways of the world showed me the most amazing people I have met.
3000 years ago Night Star taught the people of the Shed the magic ways of the big brown doors standing tall. At first we could not believe the amazing
magic taking place as we entered the large brown doors of the Shed. The warm light was surfing over out bodies like a swarm of the warm aqua water
that entered our minds.
From a distant past we saw Jayce hovering from in-between distant worlds. Quickly with thoughts we brought her back from the past and in to our world.
We all cried holding onto her love. A man shouted out “ Jayce, where a e you been for the last 3600 years?” Jayce told us many stories of her
greatness with her war within. We all held each other and made a promise to ever leave the Shed again…
