And the climate models predicted sea level rises that render beach front property uninhabitable.

Ironically, the same wealthy a$$holes that have been predicting this doom porn scenario, are the same ones buying up said properties.

Also, insurance companies are insuring said properties. Why would they do that knowing they're going to pay out billions when it's going to be underwater soon?

Some idea of the winds here in KC. I am at lunch and they were strong enough to blow over a small tree in the parking lot. It landed on a car and rolled off to settle between it and its neighbor. I parked on the windy side of the other trees ... just to be sure.

The winds are howling here, and it’s almost 70 degrees… in December… in Wisconsin..

They were talking about it this morning on my local station in Kentucky. The weatherman was talking about how it is a rare event with snow on the ground and how the track will be more evident.

All I could think about was how much worse it could be in that scenario with ice chunks flying around and cold trees and power poles.

Prayers to all of those that may be in the path, head the warnings and be as safe as you can. We get so used to all the sirens and false alarms and become complacent, but being prepared as you can when the real thing hits is best for you and your family. The little sleep you may lose or the distraction that they pose needs to be seen as positive outcome instead of a waste.

I agree with Ketsuko in that the seasons seem to be shifting somewhat. Here where I live in Kentucky, it is currently partly cloudy, 68 degrees, wind around 15 mph. Not what one would think mid December weather should be.

Oh Crap

I’m hearing we might have a Dericho tonight…
Nothing more scary than a tornado at night

They are saying we might have a Snownado? 👀

It's 60* in suburban Grand Rapids.

I have my ALL of my windows open, both floors. Normally, warm days in wintertime mean I have to get choosy about which ones I open, and how many. Nah, not today, just a crisp breeze coming through.

I'm not looking forward to battening things down later, but considering I skipped doing that last storm & had all my patio furniture shoved up against my back door (lol, wind shoved it little by little) I figure I probably should this time.

Edit: They haven't mentioned any potential derecho impacts yet on my side of the lake, but the afternoon is still young.

Everyone just put out Christmas lights and decor. It’s going to look crazy after this storm.
I need to go to the double check and see what could go airborne with 100mh winds.

The winds are howling, whistling and sounding like a train and the worst isn’t even close yet.
We are getting it all this evening.

Be careful out there, JAG, last thing we need to hear is how some crazy lady in Wisconsin ended up wrapped in Christmas lights, hanging precariously like an Cirque du Soleil acrobat from some tree two counties away.

I just LOL at that!

I’m a pretty brave soul but I don’t mess around with tornadoes.
I’ve had one in my neighborhood, and I’ve experienced a hurricane first hand.

There is nothing more humbling than Mother Nature especially when it comes to wind.
Well, Mother Nature and/or government controlled weather

Night tornadoes are really bad. Closest one ever came to us was a spin up in squall line that hit about 4 blocks to our south wrecking several businesses. It hit at about 2am so quickly there were no sirens.

Here we go.

Storms are firing through Kansas and Nebraska. Two warnings west of me out around Manhattan with two others up in Nebraska.

Given the transient nature of most of the warnings, I am guessing these are spin-ups you get along a squall line, but there's a lot of them.

So far, twisted probability looks to be West of Lake Michigan.

Just big winds for the great lakes.

They recorded 100 mph winds here in Manitou Springs,CO. It was crazy earlier there are tree limbs down everywhere and tumbleweeds blowing across the street at 60 mph.....................would hate to get hit in the face with one of those and I think the news said 7 semis overturned here in town a few hours ago.

The MSM is all over this. It’s taking center stage away from Covid and Biden’s follies.

The media is frothing at the mouth over this next storm.
