Many areas are still picking up the pieces from the storms/winds/tornadoes of December 11th.
Now a new front is coming through the Midwest.
Many thanks to ketsuko for turning me on to the YT channel!!

Yep, I've been watching on windy.com the projected possible paths the center's going to take to our west here in MI. All 4 forecast models are trying to make us wee ourselves a bit regarding wind. Not just in MI, but the whole Point A to point B route through the Midwest is an Induced Suctioning To Seats target.

I can't see this not spitting out at least a couple of nasty tornadoes somewhere. Another disaster is really not what's needed right now (understatement of the frickin' century)

Stay safe my American friends!

All I know about tornado is from TV and I do not like what I see there.

I'm in central Hellinois and the wind is brutal. Wife and I were going to put our boat back in and go fishing, but it's to damn windy.

I like it being 70 degrees in December, but it's getting bad.

That's not too far north of us. Winds are howling in KC today. Weatherman says gusts upward of 60mph are not off the table, and that's before the severe weather although he doesn't think there will be much difference between winds and storm winds.

We are expected to get a classic squall line through here right about the time I drive home.

LOL. We also got a text from kiddos school that they monitoring the outdoor recess situation because of the winds. Really?

Yep.
Not looking good.
And this is the third wind event for December, and we are only halfway through the month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We did, however, miss the Gales of November this year IIRC.....

I figured I was just paranoid in thinking that these storms seemed fishy. Even Russell Brand's talking about weather control lately.

I did mention last night to hubs that it seemed the Gales were fashionably late & unnecessarily making up for it with excess gusto (see what I did there? har, har, throw the tomatoes)

Now, there's a possibility.
Didn't think the weather is just delayed.
Have you noticed that cold weather seems to start later in the year, and linger later in the new year?

Is it? I mean that the Weather Reporters (not all, but a lot) have been getting caught lying about the weather lately. For instance, where I live, we're under a Winter Weather Advisory, but according to the maps we shouldn't be getting any snow until after the advisory is over. Huh?

If the weather reporters are lying about the weather, then it could to most people seem like somebody is controlling the weather. If a person doesn't know that a tight pressure gradient is headed their way, then when the winds pick up, they might be surprised or caught off-guard by it.

I hope that if a new batch of Tornadoes do touch down, that it's over open areas and no one is hurt either finically or physically.

That's called "global warming". That's exactly what the climate models predict.

I actually have noticed exactly that, and I'm pretty sure there's been discussion on here about it within the past few years. Maybe this year, I also remember mentions of plants blooming at odd dates (or as with this year, getting a Round Two of spring flowers in fall) so maybe it was part of a gardening thread?

I do think it's entirely plausible for the seasons to shift around on us over time. It stands to reason that the seasons 1,000 years ago weren't operating on our modern bullet point timing expectations, and I bet the ones a thousand years before them didn't operate on the same expectations as that later era's, either.

It's entirely plausible that it's happened umpteen times over the eons with regularity. It really drives me bonkers that the Native tribes didn't have a permanent written form like tablets or scrolls, I bet the weather history of North America would look vastly different than we assume if there had been hard records of events.

I had a guy working for me once who was a pathological liar. He'd literally like about things when the truth would have been better for him.

I think the entire political and media sphere have gone that route.

This isn't a global warming thread.
Don't make it one, please.

Yes. It gets cool later, but it also warms up later.

Perhaps leap year isn't the solution they thought it was.

Pay attention! No one said "no winter".

Winter is traditionally about 3 months. We think December, January, February. What we're talking about is not *less* winter - January, February, but shifted winter from say January, February to March. Then starting the 3 months of spring in April which pushes every season around the calendar.

June is spring. September is summer. December would be fall.

The weather here in Virginia has been pretty mild for the most part. We have been in the teens a few times & at night its usually 20's - 30's. I saw a bloody Tadpole in the fish pond yesterday & appeared to be half way through the cycle to being a frog. So strange to me as I never would have thought that would be possible.

I hate cold weather & having to layer after layer of bulk clothes & looking like a porker. I just need to buy some of the newer better technology clothing like rechargeable heated insoles for boots & shoes, clothes, vests, socks & jackets. There are some pretty cool new things but the good stuff is $$$$$.

Cheers
Ektar

We had terrible winds last Sat 11 Dec, 25 -30mph & 50 - 60 gusts.
