So your pastor friend who sadly succumbed to COVID was a dirty person in your mind. Pretty reprehensible thinking if you ask me.

He worked closely with the destitute and poor in a very poor area of Fiji. Some people's homes did not have their own plumbing, and they had to get water from communal facilities. Similarly, toilets were most usually of the 'long-drop' type. This did not mean that they were personally dirty, because their living conditions while harder than 1st world nations, were sustainable, and they knew how to keep as clean as was possible.
