Dr. Damour then suggested that hosts could mitigate potential risks by having guests undergo testing outside the home before entering. "So, if it feels like it's gonna be weird," she said, "maybe make it kind of fun. Say, 'We're gonna start with the hors-d'œuvres in the garage', you know, 'We'll have drinks, we'll do our rapid test, and then come on in'." "You can make it playful, make it fun, and then be able to enjoy the holiday because you're not worried about safety."

Here's a good laugh, at least it was for me. I don't go anywhere for Thanksgiving, it's just me and my husband and sons, but if I was going somewhere and they said get tested first, I would NOT go. I would make sure they knew why also. Wtf? Who does this? I wonder how many people would actually do this.
There is a video, but it's on rumble and I don't think we can embed rumble vids.

I just scanned your op in that other thread. It's interesting. Also, you are a better (more family oriented?) person than I am!
"if someone is so terrified of COVID, why TF would invite someone onto your property, into your physical dwelling, to take the test? "
I thought this also. I wouldn't be holding a gathering if I was so concerned about it. And if I was wanting to have my loved ones over, I certainly wouldn't want to be excluding someone for that reason!

My mom has a legit reason with her cancer treatment to be worried, so I'm not stressed by it. We simply aren't getting together this year.
It sucks, but since there is no way I can stay isolated, that's all there is to it. My aunt will be going out to visit, but she can stay isolated being retired.
Actually, I know my mom is more worried about my sister's family where my brother-in-law works the penitentiary and none of them are vaccinated.
