Dragonrider....

no matter what sex u are...if bullets..mortars and anti-tank missles are hurtling towards u...u still feel in danger!!!

It doesn't matter how u got into the situation...its the people who are around u that help u get out!!!

I was scared #less when i came underfire when on evac...but i managed to stay calm enough by knowing that fellow men and woman were in the same boat as me and we wouldn't crack up on each other!!!

I think that pretty much explains everything, don't you?

Women should be in the military. However, there are positions that most women probably cannot qualify for and therefore should not be considered "equal" for. And if you're not equal on all requirements of a position, you should not be allowed to fill it. I would think infantry would be a good example.

IF you get a big hulky farm-girl who can pass all of the same stringent physical requirements, then she can qualify for the same physical positions with equality and should not be disallowed from same.

Just make sure you send her out to battle during her "bad week of the month", as FM puts it...to get the maximum kill effect.

But he was right about the first two things he said.

Be more specific Maynard, DR has the uncanny ability to talk yet say nothing at all...

Still wanting to know my experience with weapons DR? Like it really matters...even though it probably superceeds you by far.

I'm not a "biggot" I just view women differently, as things to protect and treasure and enjoy their company and heed their words of wisdom.

(Translation: In my world, all women are in the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant)

I've always respected the well placed and well timed words of a woman.

(Translation: They should only speak when spoken to)

The Germans, used to believe the "fairer sex" was precognitive, they would like-wise listen to what words of wisdom and courage they gave.

(Oh we dont want to talk about Project Lebenstraum, where all women were to be "breeders" for the Master Race)

Just reviewing some interesting facts...

I meant those first two things.

Their equipment will also not be a bunch of 3rd world junk produced by '70s era Soviet Union. (Whose tactics and equipment proved a massive failure in the first Gulf War).

I would like to point out FM that neither will ours. This statement tends to contradict your intention - your intention appearing to be that each conflict will be LESS accomodating to the female - but as you are pointing out here, technology marches on. And as each weapon becomes lighter, smarter, more accurate and more efficient, the door opens wider to a physical requirement encompassing more women who can be deemed "equal".

How thick headed can you be to honestly think that I believe women should only be spoken when spoken to?

And that whole "cliche" about barefoot and pregnant, isn't right either...women shouldn't just hide at home all day, but they definately need to spend more time with the kids then the corporate head honcho position allows them.

Hhhmmnnn..... I wonder what gender it is?

Like I've said above, political pressures, plus valid tactical advantages, will push the military of the future to be as robotic as possible.... so, a debate about girls versus boys in war is now nearly meaningless.

Even foot soldiers will eventually be, in large order, replaced by machines.... especially when it comes to duties related to occupations.

maynard,

I answered this in another thread.

You get them when you get caught acting naughty.

Yeah Valhall, of course, we'll have better equipment too, but sadly it doesn't get "lighter".

The average weight of a pack of the common infantry man is now 100 pounds. Paratroopers can reach 180 pounds.

When was the last time you marched 12 miles with a 120 pound back pack Valhall?

Combat forts such as Fort Knox are still divided, and women who will be going in mechanic positions have a very watered down training.

And cadences that had been sung for 100 years can no longer be sung in the presence of women when on march.

The military is "buttering" women, not training them as soldiers.

Beats me I wasn't reading that thread.

Ahhh, you upset a female mod
heh

Ahh Valhall, seems my Warning (which is for this thread), is an unjust warning given by someone less than "moderate".

While yours was for swearing or such.

FM...my last 15 KILOMETER March with pack was in the last week of April, 1983...Fort Jackson to be exact.

When was yours???

Also, I believe you offered to enlighten us by sharing your "knowledge of weaponry"...I look forward to it.

Ahh Relaxin Jackson, hardly a fort to be proud of going to.

Though I must admit a friend of mine (Truck mechanic) ended up there, we give him hell for it

His unit was ambushed foolishly, 100% casualties by a few scouts ... and he grew up with us...he should have known better.

Lotta good Fort Relaxin Jackson did.

For crimeny sake!

I served with females. They pull hard, and they pull as hard as they can.

Do I think our nation must put women in battle, no.
Do I think there are women who can perform in battle...surley.

Do I think this thread is a dead end, YES.

FM- concede for peace's sake!
