spoonful of bacon grease inside of some old newspaper is the charcoal starter of choice in my home.

I am just sitting here wondering how many people reading this don’t know what Cornholio means/is from!

Anyone else here old enough to remember the days of the Sears and Wards catalogs, and no TP shortages?

No shortages so far here, although they are preemptively putting a limit on TP when it goes on sale to prevent hoarding.

Prices on meats have gotten ridiculous though, and gas has shot up greatly.

I heard tell beef may be considered a luxury like Champagne soon enough.

Bloody well hope not. LoL

Have no fear! Gates has your back with a bunch of fake meat being produced in Israeli factories. Yum!!!

Unrelated I'm sure 😂 but he is also probably the biggest owner of American farm land now.

I have heard grocery store stockers complain that they are being instructed to pull many canned foods and othery grocery items off the shelves.

Get use to this sort of b.s. and stock up if you can. If anyone still thinks this crap is conspiracy, I'll take anything you consider extra.

My wife and I have been watching costs of goods increase steadily over the past couple of weeks.

We have, too. It's getting expensive when TARGET is the cheapest dry goods shopping you'll get. Hell, their grocery dept. as a whole is actually damn fairly priced, it's actually cheaper than Meijer.

We get our fresh meat and produce elsewhere (indie grocers) but have noticed the price is getting steep. It's been a while since we restocked our chicken breast supply in the deep freezer, so imagine my surprise when I see it's on sale for $2.50 a lb. Last time we restocked, it was a buck a pound on sale!

I did pick up a hell of an impressive rib eye steak for $6.99 a lb this week (sale price) Steeper than it used to be, we used to stockpile rib eyes, because was usually no more than $5 a lb for it.

Thick cut bacon's on sale this week for $6.99 a lb, too. Fricking outrageous, thick cut bacon sale prices used to be between $3 and $5 a lb.

With 242,000 acres, Bill Gates is indeed apparently America's largest owner of private farmland.

Why are the stores being instructed to pull many canned foods and other grocery items?

I imagine they wish sell the products on the shelfs hence make spondoolies and generate profit.

Its not canned goods im seeing a shortage of if im honest but freezer food and fresh produce.

Electronics as well, i bought the wean a laptop today for her Birthday next week.

But they wont deliver it, so we will need to travel all the way from Glasgow to Edinburgh pick the thing up, and i was lucky to even get the one she wanted in Edinburgh.

Im thinking Christmas shopping is going to be rather a cumbersome affair this year.

Wait,

You are in need of toilet paper and paper towels after hearing for weeks that the supply chain was drying up and there were shortages coming again?

You really did not stock up when it was plentiful in the summer?

I am not exactly sure why they are being instructed to pull canned goods and other groceries. I would say they do not want people stockpiling, but as you stated the shortages are not specific to long term storage foods and other items.

I am however convinced this is not a temporary issue and I do encourage all with children to stockpile while you can. Also, if you celebrate Christmas get those gifts asap also.

It is clear there is an agenda to greatly increase reliance on government so I would imagine these created shortages have something to do with that.

Buddy i stay on an island 700 miles long.

With a population of 67.22+ million souls.

If the supply chains were to fail or fall in any sort of significant manner.

Even if only for a few months.

We would be eating one another in no time sharp.

Totally agree where the Christmas gifts are concerned all the same considering where most toys and electronic products originate from these days.

It is why I always order sweet and sour pork in Chinese restaurants. And why I always get extra attention from the Chinese waitresses.

Where I am from it is low now. It just hit like 2 months ago. If it bad here, best believe everywhere is like that now. It will take awhile to get people back to work but it will happen. You either make masks a fashion statement like on ticktock 4 years ago or stop wearing them.

We will see an improvement soon. We will have a more endorsed internet salesmen system. Along with having compatible apps to insure our internal purposes.

Took me a bit to dig through my posts history to find JAGStorm's thread on grocery shortages, but I feel it's a relevant thread to link because it could be handy for price comparisons over the past few months. That is, assuming you'd prefer to keep food shortages and non-edible/household goods shortages (TP for the bunghole, etc) in separate threads for that.

Out again here in Los AngHelles. Price compare I can give is for Kirkland diapers... used to be 35.99, last few months jumped up to 42.99.

I'd prefer to use the new Bezos catalogs that go out to wipe on

The wife and I were just talking about getting toilet paper and paper towel when we find it on sale again. We only have maybe sixty rolls of toweling and sixty rolls of toilet paper in stock right now, Getting dangerously low, We do not want to get caught with our pants down or greasy fingers this winter. That number is just above our minimum now to stock in case stuff gets shut down again.

Also, the coffee is getting low, one of the most important survival things we have. Ten cans only lasts maybe six months, they are all the smaller twenty six ounce cans that we got on sale. It is hard to pay a buck and a half more now since the last sale where we bought six cans at four forty nine a can. I guess we have to bite the bullet and put out more cash for what we NEED.

Try the lower end stores, like your dollar stores. That got me through when the great TP shortage happened.
