I have one kid left in school the other two are adults.

For some reason this year the school is getting a lot more strict with dress codes.
I am a very rule abiding person and teach my children the same within REASON. (I’ll get to that part in a minute)

The girls at my daughters schools keep getting dress coded. It’s so stupid, skirts a little too short, short too short, maybe a little too much cleavage.
There is nothing crazy going on here and I honestly think they should just have kept things the way they were. (Remember I had two other kids here with none of this) It’s cold for 95% of the school year which really doesn’t even allow for much to happen anyways.

My daughter is lanky and everything looks short on her. She has some anxiety about being dress coded. I told her not to worry because if she is, I have all the ammunition to fight it and she is on board 100%. We discussed it in detail. She isn’t going out of her way to get coded, so please don’t get that impression.

Here’s Mama’s plan

If she get’s coded, I’ll ask for a specific why and what the “rules” are. (They are vague) and seem to differ from teacher to teacher.
Typically the answer is that the clothing is “distractive, inappropriate” blah blah blah, you know what I mean.
Then I will bring out the big guns.

Exhibit A: Front page of the schools website, at least 4 teachers have very short skirts and low low cleavage and one wearing what you could call stilettos. Then I will ask if teachers are also required to follow the school dress code. If yes, then why are they parading it on the front page representation of the school. If no, shouldn’t teachers be an example for the kids? Is it do as I say not as I do?

Exhibit B: School athletic wear, seriously almost all of it goes against the “dress code” booty shorts, short short cheer skirts, midriffs showing. Again, why is it ok to wear them when representing the school?

So my next question will be: Is it only ok for student to dress in a distractive manner, and inappropriately when adults at the school tell them to?

There is no way to answer that question! Buwahahahhahaa. Like I said, don’t mess with mama, this isn’t my first rodeo.

So far so good, no codes but I think she is literally the only one in her friend group that hasn’t had one to date.

And just to show you the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, my daughter said if you want to talk about distracting, one of her male teachers constantly wears shirts that are too thin and show his cold “nips” during class. 😂

I feel your pain.
My daughter couldn't wear jeans with holes in them but shorts and skirts with way more skin showing are just fine.

She played volleyball all through her school years and I can tell you that many of the girls had cheeks hanging out. I never understood how this behavior was allowed.

That would be funny if the shorts didn’t look exactly like the ones the Hooters girls wear!

The school has a weird sports drug policy too.
If a kid ,yeah, it was my kid, fails a drug test....
She tested positive for nicotine....aka vape
And another kid gets caught shooting heroin in the bathroom, they both get the same punishment.

25% season suspended and no varsity letter.

THAT is my point, your school has people doing H in the bathroom but they are worried about Holes in jeans!!

Well I don't think anyone has been caught with heroin but it's like there is a total lack of perspective.

Exactly, my kid is a well behaved straight A student but long legs are the problem…

One of her friends got dress coded because she wore a crop top —-BUT—- there was no midriff showing as she pulled the leggings all the way up. I guess the teacher thought it was still too revealing… Again, another straight A student.
I think they need to find other things to worry about.

Sorry...but as a parent...you will be arrested by the FBI for questioning the rules.

You might not be so wrong in that statement.

Years ago I asked a question, I guess it was a forbidden question in these parts. I asked why we didn’t have another high school as ours is very far geographically and had a very large student body.

You know the response I received? I was sent a THREE page (no exaggeration) essay on why our high school is so good!!!!!
I had no clue what can of worms I opened up. People were emailing me left and right. I guess there is some huge tax benefit that goes to that school that can’t be lost and they want everyone to just keep their mouth shut.

I remember in high school that no one the track team was comfortable in singlet and running shorts, so we all wore matching white tees and matching bicycle tights under them.

Then we got to college and found out we had to wear bun tights cut for those with junk in the trunk! I ended up half mooning spectators more than once hurdling because I didn't have enough butt to keep them on.

Eh, no one cares about man nips, and I personally liked the track singlets. Wore them unabashedly.

Dress codes are stupid. Government schools should just make everyone wear coveralls. That'll fix the issue.

Might have partially had to do with Kansas spring not really warming up until the last few weeks of the season. Who wants to run around half clothed when it's still sweat shirt weather?
