Snowden said he was somewhat shocked by the courts decision on his Twitter feed. twitter.com...

Auhhh it has been 7 years since he fled to avoid persecution, prosecution, jail, and no telling what other bodily harm; if the January 6 bunch rotting in jail now is any indication then he was well advised to leave when he did ! So now what ? If he is comfortable in Russia will he ever return, would you ? Just asking for a friend !! hahah

Edward Snowden is a patriot. He is not a traitor. He is a legitimate whistleblower and, in a surprising decision last September, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit:

Said the warrantless telephone dragnet that secretly collected millions of Americans’ telephone records violated the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and may well have been unconstitutional.

My fingers tremble as I type this, and I can't believe what I am about to say!

The democrats, and the 9th circuit court in particular, finally did something I actually approve of!!

**have to go take a shower now!!** I feel so 'dirty'.

Like you that is the first decision I can ever remember agreeing with; but I do not pay much attention to them anyway. I am just glad he was finally vindicated. The government lied and tried to cover it up from day one.. OK now what ?? Will anyone at NSA lose their jobs or be hauled before a court and prosecuted ? Sadly, I doubt it...

If Snowden were to return to the US, I wager that some alphabet agency or another will take him into custody for some offences the he didn’t even know he committed. The intelligence community carry’s a grudge. There will be no peace for him.

No doubt about it!!

But maybe now he can move around a little more freely, even if it's not to the US.

Don't comeback. Even a full pardon. They will still put a hit on him. The intel folks are persecuting people right now despite them doing nothing wrong.

Don't worry, I'm sure they will make a decision you don't agree with, and you can go back to hating them again.

What's written in a courtroom, and what happens in an alley, can be entirely different things.

If I were Snowden I'd stay permanently clear of US soil. Whatever he's done to avoid getting suicided so far, he should keep doing it.

My opinion. For the whole world, Edward Snowden is a hero. This is true. For the United States, he is a traitor. And this is also true. Whatever universal human motives he was guided by, first of all he betrayed his people and his country. If he were a real hero, he would die for his beliefs in his country and become a hero for the citizens of his country.
And so, he went into hiding in my country, and became a traitor for the Americans. This is true.

Communists always do, and Chuck-you Schemer is one of the worst. Oh, and a scumbag piece of dog shiite on top of that, and that goes for his relative Amy as well. Shiite doesn't fall far from the dog, or something like that....

It's strangely amusing that patriot is very nearly an anagram for traitor. On topic, good for Snowden, but I can imagine he doesn't actually care anymore. By now he's figured out how to be happy without approval from American authorities or setting foot on American soil. He's effectively emancipated himself and has very little motivation to reverse that decision.

Now if they could exonerate Julian Assange we will all be happy.

Confused? You actually saying you agree with the things that have been done since Biden has been in office?
I have met not a single person in any political party who feels that way, stunning!

Why? We had laws that protected "whistleblowers" for a reason.
Now with the corruption around us a whistleblower could not be heard unless they ran and spoke from somewhere safe. They shut People up now have you not noticed? A word and wham accident, heart attack, then how do the people hear the truth?

IF he was to re-enter there clutches they would still kill him, make it look like an overdose after a long bout of depression or alcoholism and make certain he met an untimely end to set an example.

So in my humble opinion while Russia is also far from perfect if I were him I would stay put.

Depends on his courage and if he yet has an angle to grind but I believe he had only honourable intentions in what he did while those that wanted him dead or locked up did NOT have such honourable intentions and still do not.

Only the fact he has been under Russian protection has kept him alive this long - though his enemy's DID want to make an example of him just as they still do with Julian Assange and other's that crossed them.

Hopefully this isn't just an attempt to smoke him out.

I wonder if Russia continues to host him now that the nature of political asylum has changed.
