The Bible is a collection of books written over a long period of time by many different people and I'm not even Christian lol

I often think Theist insult their God by alluding that he/she/it has anything to do with the bible. Imagine creating a whole Universe but need several superstitious, misogynist old men to deliver proof of the God's existence. Meanwhile in short while man has produced the Internet ...go figure!!

Accept recorded history paints a rather different picture.

For a start Woman get rather a raw deal from Christianity, never mind the inquisition and what happens to anyone else that don't share the same belief system aka the crusades for one.

How about the way the Spanish treated the indigenous population of America when they arrived and for quite some time after, and all in the name of god.

The message is a lot more complex than go forth and love if you ask me.

History on the other hand, well quite a few supposed Christians ways in there are indeed rather questionable never mind nations.

The book in question, its a product of Man with all his fear and fallibility laid bare and that's a fact.

As to expectations, treat people how you find them and you cant go far wrong.

The God of the Bible also allows slavery, including selling your own daughter as a sex slave (Exodus 21:1-11), child abuse (Judges 11:29-40 & Isaiah 13:16), and bashing babies against rocks (Hosea 13:16 & Psalms 137:9). This type of criminal behavior should shock any moral person.
